Some guitar events coming up in the next few days..... As part of the Coronation of the 2018 Florence Pioneer Day Royalty event at the Rialto Theater on Friday, September 14 at 7:00 pm, Jim Bosse will perform a concert presenting the History of the Classical Guitar and its Repertoire. The program will sample music from six centuries. This event is open to the public free of charge. The historic Rialto Theater is located at 209 West Main Street, Florence, Colorado 81226.
Guitar Trio Concerts
A guitar trio with members from North and South America will perform five concerts in Southern Colorado.
The first will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Saint Andrew’s Church Recital Series. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm, the church is located at 808 Manitou avenue, downtown Manitou Springs. General admission is $10 but students are free.
The second will be on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Hoag Hall on Colorado State University Campus in Pueblo. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. This concert is open to the public free of charge.
The third will be on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Classically Alive Concert Series in Colorado Springs. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. For reservations and information contact Abe Minzer at [email protected] or 719-229-2239. General admission is $25 but students are $10.
The fourth will be on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Dale J. Miller Center for Guitar Studies Concert Series. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm, the Center is located at 3617 Betty Drive, Suite D, Colorado Springs. General admission is $20 but students are $10. The final concert will be on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Episcopal Church Concert Series. The concert will begin at 2:00 pm, the church is located at 802 Harrison avenue, Cañon City. General admission is $10 but students are free.
Headlining the trio is Peruvian virtuoso, Alfredo Muro, who has dazzled audiences here in Southern Colorado on numerous occasions in the past. Chilean guitarist, Alberto Cumplido, is the director of the largest guitar festival in Chile, Entrecuerdas. Both South American guitarists have performed all over the world and have produced many acclaimed recordings. Colorado guitarist, Jim Bosse, no stranger to the concert stage here and abroad, will complete the trio. Their concert program will present classical guitar music from South America.
The three guitarists first met while performing at a large guitar festival in Arequipa, Peru in 2007. They have performed together several times, in various ensembles, at concerts, guitar festivals, and radio programs in Oregon, Colorado, Chile, Peru, and Argentina.
