Most people have never heard of "low vision" until someone they love is diagnosed with it.

So let's talk about what it actually means. Low vision is a visual impairment that cannot be fully corrected with glasses, contact lenses, medication, or surgery. It's not blindness but it makes everyday tasks like reading, recognizing faces, driving, or watching TV genuinely difficult.

It affects more than 8 million Americans. And that number is growing.

Common causes include: Macular degeneration, Glaucoma Diabetic retinopathy, Cataracts (in advanced stages), and Traumatic eye injury.

Here's what many people don't know: low vision is manageable. With the right tools, training, and support, people living with low vision can cook, read, work, create art, and live independently on their own terms.

That's exactly what we do at Ensight Skills Center. For 25 years, we've helped individuals in our community not just cope with vision loss but thrive in spite of it.

From then to now, and we're just getting started.

25 years ago, Ensight Skills Center opened its doors in a small space with a big belief: that people living with vision loss deserve a full, independent, connected life. That first office? Modest. The mission? Enormous.

Today, we've grown into a thriving center with expanded programs, more adaptive tools, deeper community partnerships, and hundreds of lives transformed right here in our own backyard.

But the heart of what we do has never changed. Every magnifier handed over. Every skill taught. Every person who walked in unsure and walked out with a plan that's what 25 years looks like.

We didn't grow alone. We grew with YOU our donors, volunteers, partners, and community champions who believed in this mission before it had walls to match.
