Celebrating the Wildlife and Forestry Career Pathways 2017-2018 year!

wildlife2018 Description

For my former students... Next week will be a transition for me. I'll be teaching only college courses this semester. So that means I could have you as a student again! Sign up for nre 205 ( wildlife ecology) nre 114 ( Colorado wildlife), or nre 215 ( fire ecology)! I'm not quitting the high school program. It's in good hands with Ray Aberle this semester, and I'll take over again in the fall! Exciting times! Side note...sign up quickly if you want to take outdoor rec, ornithology, or wildlife management as these courses are in danger of not running due to low enrollment!

The Red Desert to Hoback migration is nearly complete. Just a few stragglers still moving towards summer range. The long-distance migrants always take longer to migrate - true also in the autumn migration. These long migrations mean they spend less time on poor quality winter range. We are learning that diverse migratory strategies allows more animals to prosper on the same (large!) year-round range. Fortunately, Wyoming has a lot of space for these animals to exploit each year.
