It’s tough out there, folks! This time of year can be challenging and there is so much going on right now in our sphere of autism and the world at large, it’s easy to lose hope. At Attain SLB, we believe that gratitude is an incompatible behavior to the negativity and there is still much to celebrate! 🙌🏻 Please give us a call or send a text to (970) 999-5720 and plan to join us for a cup of Sarah’s “famous” chili on Friday 11/21!

Happy Labor Day Weekend (upcoming- please don’t leave work yet!) from Attain SLB! Next week will be our Employee Appreciation Week and we plan to crank some verbal gratitude up to 10 as we remind our lovely staff of just how much we care about them and how meaningful the work they are doing each day is to the clients we serve and the world of ASD support at large.
RBTs often face a multitude of challenges in this field that are not common to other jobs, and there seems to be a lack of knowledge and respect for all that ABA therapists are doing each day. RBTs juggle the technical expertise of therapists implementing evidence-based treatment while simultaneously being the enthusiastic, reinforcing and trusted friend and play partner of each of the kiddos we serve. RBTs are tasked with responding to interfering behavior that can be challenging and even dangerous to those involved, and each day our RBTs demonstrate the utmost empathy, patience and compassion for our clients. The reimbursement rates for ABA therapy services continue to be an uphill battle for RBTs to be paid what they are worth.
An article by Kazemi et al., 2015 found that as many as 38% of the RBTs surveyed were experiencing significant burnout and were either somewhat or highly likely to leave their jobs, and this is still considered representative of the field at large today. We don’t accept this as fate here at Attain SLB and really strive to ensure our RBTs are feeling supported and appreciated each day! So the next time you meet an RBT, ask them about the work that they do (we LOVE to talk about it and share our many happy moments) and thank them for stepping up to the plate for our kiddos. Commence party time! 🎉

Attain SLB and non-private equity ABA providers across the state of Colorado need your support. Those of us in the trenches of providing these valuable, life-changing services will confirm that what this field is going through is nothing short of a crisis. Medicaid’s low reimbursement rates threaten to halt ABA services for the majority of children who could benefit in the future if nothing is done to STOP them and advocate for what our children and therapists need.
Registered behavior technicians/ RBTs are providing highly technical and advanced, evidence-based and medically necessary services. Their jobs require a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail. Unfortunately with low reimbursement rates from Medicaid, it becomes very difficult and nearly impossible to hire new staff to implement these services. This means that children end up waiting long months and even YEARS on waitlists even though ABA services are medically necessary are URGENT.
At a time where the price of nearly EVERYTHING has increased with COVID-19 crisis and inflation, rates for ABA services have continued to stall for years. It’s unacceptable and nothing short of tragic for families who are waiting for support.
It’s time to change the reimbursement rates for good, so please sign this petition. In doing so you acknowledge that these services are virtually important to the children who need them and they have a HUMAN RIGHT to quality care!
