Happy ! 🐝

Did you know that pollinators are responsible for 1 out of 3 bites of food we take each day? During their flight from flower to flower, they transfer pollen that fertilizes plants and helps make seeds, fruits, and new plants! 🪻

Today is a good day to reduce your wildfire risk. Simple, low-cost actions can make a big difference:

1. Keep the grass cut to 4".
2. Store firewood 30 feet away from buildings.
3. Remove any items under the deck.
4. Make sure nothing is within 10 feet of propane tanks.
5. Clear leaves and pine needles within 5 feet of the house.

Arborist Appreciation Day: Meet Kamie Long - Colorado State Forest Service 06/16/2026

Today is ! And for good reason. We rely on certified arborists to keep our trees healthy in our yards and in our communities.

We're thrilled to have one of the best, Kamie Long, working in Western Colorado.

"As an urban forester, I really enjoy educating people about whatever question they are dealing with at the time, such as what species to plant, how to properly plant or prune trees or just a general question of what tree do I have? I also like working with communities to come up with ways to better educate/inform the residents on their urban forest and help understand the value of what they have growing around them."

Arborist Appreciation Day: Meet Kamie Long - Colorado State Forest Service Arborist Appreciation Day is celebrated every year on June 16. Kamie Long, an arborist with the CSFS, tells us more about her journey and career.

Just another breathtaking national forest in Colorado.

Today we (time) travel to the West Bench of the Grand Mesa, offering up fabulous stands of fall color. Aspens take their cue to change when days get shorter in the fall. Color changes also depend on tree health, local weather, environmental factors like drought or increased moisture, elevation and latitude.
