🗣️ Calling ALL seniors! The Sankofa…Be that Bridj Scholarship Award is now open!
The Sankofa...Be that BRIDJ Award was created by the 7th Director of B/AACC, Bridgette Johnson and embodies the true meaning of the Akan proverb Sankofa, or “It is not taboo to go back and fetch that which you have forgotten.” Or maybe you’ve heard “you have to know where you come from to know where you’re going’.
This award is for graduating seniors who participated in the Rites of Passage Mentorship Program (mentor, mentee, events, ROP Retreat, etc.). Applicants are required to write a 500-word essay describing how the Rites of Passage retreat impacted their first year of college, their experience as a mentor, and lessons that they learned; addressing how these funds will be used as they transition out of college.
In addition to receiving this award, the applicants will share why or how they plan to hold true to the promise of the Sankofa and be that BRIDJ for the B/AACC community.
Apply today! 🗣️✨
