This online class format covers essential skills for great dog behavior anywhere, including cafe and brewery manners at the heart of the Drink With Your Dog project!

*Enrollment Closes on March 11* Most dogs struggle with the behaviors they “know” when they are in new or challenging environments. Join Amber Quann (Summit Dog Training) for her four-week KPA LIVE virtual class, where she’ll teach you and your dog a working generalization process. Here’s what you’ll learn week-by-week: • Week 1: We will be brewing up foundational behaviors that are essential to brewery and café manners. Remember that you can adapt what you learn in this Unit to the setting of your choosing! • Week 2: Build on the skills and advance your behavior sequence from the door to the bar, focusing on leash walking past distractions and a duration stay at the bar that is cued by the brewery environment! • Week 3: Add the last few steps of the generalization puzzle and the remaining steps of the behavior sequence so that you and your dog can progress from the car to the door, to the bar, to the table, and finally, to your dog relaxing under the table while you enjoy your time together. • Week 4: Take your skills on the road to practice in new environments with your dog! You’ll learn the best ways to generalize your dog’s skills to any bustling public environment, and how to handle common environmental and training challenges found in these scenarios. Brewery Dogs Harper & Woodsie recently completed their video submissions to earn their Level 1 & Level 2 Brewery-Friendly Dog titles!

One of our favorite elements is the Responsible Owner Challenge from the Level 2 title requirements: "When a friendly stranger approaches, instruct a “friendly stranger” on how to appropriately interact with your dog. Tell them what your dog likes (butt scratches, chin rubs, belly rubs, etc.) and let them know if there is any way your dog does NOT want to be interacted with."

Letting the approaching stranger know how to interact with your dog goes a long way towards setting everyone up for a super positive greeting experience!

Today Harper at nearly 9 completed all of the exercises for level 1 & 2 for the Certified Brewery Friendly dog with Drink With Your Dog! It was a complete blast provided so many real life skills as opposed to some of the other video title programs. Thank you 4th Meridian Brewing co. For being such a welcoming place and participating in some of the tasks with us!
