We are evaluating Cognitive and Motor Performance in Young Athletes!
Who is Eligible: Athletes in organized sports, ages 18-24, with 1 prior concussion
Why: The purpose of this study is to measure brain activity changes in athletes while they complete cognitive, motor, and vision tasks. Later, these findings will be compared to healthy athletes to help us better understand sports-related concussion.
Where: Brainwaves Research Lab and SCORE Lab @ Colorado State
University
What to Expect: A cap, similar to a swim cap, with EEG sensors or fIRS optodes will be placed on your head. While the cap is on your head, you will be asked to complete computer-based tasks (e.g. listening to tones, pressing buttons as quickly as possible) and other cognitive (e.g. mental math), motor (e.g. walking) tasks or visual (e.g. tracking a moving object) tasks.
How Long: This study includes 1-2 sessions that will last ~ 2 hours each.
Participants will be compensated with cash at a rate of $35/hour for a possible total compensation of $140-$175.
*Recent injuries include head injuries, like concussions, or more severe brain injuries.
Please contact study PI, Jaclyn Stephens, for a complete list of criteria for study eligibility.

More funding for the SCORE Lab to continue important work with people with brain injury!
Congratulations to the 2022 Class of Investigators! We are honored to invest in these 8 exceptional early-career researchers as they investigate causes and treatments of disease, injury, and more. We know their leading research at our beloved Colorado institutions will have immense beneficial impacts for people far into the future. Each researcher receives $235,000 in grant funding through our Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards Program to cover up to 3 years of research. https://loom.ly/0CL-tGI Colorado State University University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus University of Colorado Boulder National Jewish Health

Happy Wednesday before fall break everybody!
This week's RA spotlight is on Michael Hanneman! He is a senior this year from Littleton, CO studying health and exercise science with a minor in biomedical science! His favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip, and he has a pit bull named Max and a gecko named A$AP! He assists with data collection in the SCORE lab and loves playing sports and fishing! Thanks so much for all you do Michael!
