Madison College - Fort Atkinson

Madison College - Fort Atkinson Welcome! Since 1931, the Fort Atkinson campus of Madison Area Technical College has been serving Fort Atkinson and the surrounding communities. Be honest.

Madison College-Fort Atkinson offers associate degrees, technical diplomas, certificates and liberal arts transfer degrees, as well as customized training for business and industry and non-credit enrichment courses for community members. In 1976, our current building on Banker Road was built; in 2008 and 2012 additions and renovations transformed our building into a student-friendly building with

high-tech, state of the art technology. Healthcare labs with computer operated sim-mannequins and a manufacturing lab that provides training in welding, metal fabricating and automated machining production provide students with career-focused skills needed to enter a changing workforce. A TelePresence classroom allows us to connect with other campuses for classes and training in a realistic, barrier-free setting. We are student-focused and our College Vision “Transforming lives, one at a time” is valued by our faculty and staff. We value excellence, respect and integrity in all we do as individuals and as an institution. Our mission is to provide accessible, high quality learning experiences that serve the community. Our campus serves our community and its students by providing both degree and non-degree courses. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all students and members of the community in pursuit of learning opportunities. Students come here to earn high school equivalency degrees, a variety short term certificates, one-year technical diplomas and two-year associate degrees. Students can earn a liberal arts degree here and transfer to UW schools or other four year universities. 🎉 That's a wrap on our 2026 Summer Youth Camps! 🎉

Our Advanced Finishing, Metal Fabrication & Welding Youth Camp wrapped up last week, closing out an incredible summer of hands-on learning, creativity, and fun at the Madison College Fort Atkinson Campus.

A huge thank you to our outstanding instructor, Alec Bromley, for an amazing first year leading the camp! Alec inspired campers with a variety of exciting new projects while encouraging them to think creatively, solve problems, and build confidence in the shop.

Throughout the week, campers tackled two signature projects—a custom toolbox and a personalized decorative log, each uniquely designed by the student who created it. It was amazing to see every camper put their own creative spin on their work while continuing to strengthen their welding and metal fabrication skills.

Campers also received a special behind-the-scenes look at the software our Madison College Metal Fabrication students use to design their capstone projects. A special thank you goes to Roger Bratberg, who returned to volunteer his time and share his knowledge with the campers. Roger has been a dedicated youth camp instructor for many years, and we're grateful he helped give students a glimpse into the design process behind advanced fabrication projects.

As if the week wasn't fun enough, Alec had one final surprise for the campers on the last day—the Minecraft Challenge! ⛏️ After discovering that Minecraft had become the unofficial theme of the week, he challenged campers to design, build, and present a Minecraft-inspired metal project in just two hours for a fun prize. The creativity, teamwork, and imagination on display were incredible, and it was the perfect way to end an unforgettable week.

Programs like this are only possible because of incredible community partnerships. We are so grateful to the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association through SparkForce, The FMA Foundation for helping us inspire the next generation of makers, welders, and fabricators.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Dane Manufacturing andBobcat Company for generously donating their time and scrap metal, giving our campers the opportunity to spark their creativity, build real-world skills, and turn raw materials into works of art.

To all of our campers, instructors, volunteers, families, and community partners—thank you for making another unforgettable summer possible. Watching these young makers grow in confidence, creativity, and skill has been the highlight of our summer, and we can't wait to see what next year brings!

(And yes... you're about to see a lot of photos! 📸 Between the personalized signs, designer logs, and the epic Minecraft Challenge, there were simply too many great moments not to share.)

🎉 What. A. Week. 🎉

Our Beginning Metal Fabrication & Welding Youth Camp wrapped up last week, and we're still smiling at everything these talented campers accomplished!

A huge thank you to our outstanding instructor, Ben Newcomb, for sharing his expertise, encouraging creativity, and helping each camper build confidence in the shop. Throughout the week, students learned a variety of welding and metal fabrication techniques while developing a strong understanding of shop safety and discovering the many exciting career opportunities in the skilled trades.

The highlight of the week? An absolutely prehistoric masterpiece—a welded dinosaur! 🦖 After receiving the pre-cut pieces, campers first had to study the model, solve the puzzle of where every piece belonged, and then use the welding skills they had learned to bring their dinosaur to life. It was incredible to watch their problem-solving and craftsmanship come together.

And the creativity didn't stop there! The shop quickly filled with display stands, hanging racks, a giant chair (officially camper tested and approved! 😄), bikes, helicopters, cars, an excavator, and so many other imaginative creations. Every project reflected the campers' growing skills and unique ideas.

One thing became very clear: these campers loved being in the shop. Their enthusiasm and dedication shined through every single day—we practically had to kick them out at closing time because no one wanted to leave! (If you're wondering why we're about to share an obnoxious number of photos... this is exactly why. There was simply too much talent and too much fun to fit into just a few pictures! 📸)

Programs like this are only possible because of incredible community partnerships. We are so grateful to the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association through SparkForce, The FMA Foundation for allowing us to inspire the next generation of makers, welders, and fabricators.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Dane Manufacturing and Doosan Bobcat Company for generously donating their time and scrap metal. Your support gave these campers the opportunity to spark their creativity, build real-world skills, and turn raw materials into works of art. And a big thank you to Salamone's Italian Pizzeria and Sports Bar for treating our campers to delicious pizzas on the final day of camp—a perfect way to celebrate an incredible week of learning, creativity, and accomplishment! 🍕😊

To all of our campers—thank you for your hard work, curiosity, creativity, and willingness to try something new. We can't wait to see where your talents take you next! 🔥⚡

✨ Last week, we wrapped up another incredible Girls in Welding & Metal Fabrication Youth Camp at Madison College Fort Atkinson!

Throughout the week, our campers explored welding and metal fabrication techniques while learning the importance of shop safety and discovering the many career opportunities available in the skilled trades. Under the guidance of our outstanding instructor, Amanda Neumaier, they transformed raw metal into impressive projects—from collaborative creations, flowers, and piggy banks to personalized pieces like turtles, plaques, and rings.

For many of the girls, this was their very first welding experience. Watching their confidence grow alongside their skills—and seeing their creativity come to life in each project—was truly inspiring!

A heartfelt thank you to our generous grant providers, the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association through SparkForce, The FMA Foundation, whose support made this hands-on camp possible. We are also incredibly grateful to Dane Manufacturing and Doosan Bobcat Company for donating their time and scrap metal, helping our campers turn their ideas into reality.

Congratulations to all of our campers on a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and accomplishment. We hope this experience has inspired the next generation of welders, fabricators, and skilled trades professionals!
