FACS Family Outreach Center The Fort Ann Central School Family Outreach Center is here to support you and your family! and 3 to 4 p.m. Email the Center at [email protected].

The Family Outreach Center that began last year to offer academic and community support to parents has expanded this year. Located in a classroom in the Elementary School, the Family Outreach Center's hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10:30 a.m. To visit, please sign in at the Elementary Office. Four parents will receive 15 hours of training to become Family Outreach Specialists (FOS). They are: Elizabeth Stowhas, Emily Stranahan, Melissa Walker and Barb Burch. They are looking for parent volunteers to assist with organizing different events and to assist in the classroom. The FOS are collaborating with Dr. Kathy Grant, a professor at SUNY Plattsburgh, and her students who are enrolled in the master's of science for teachers program, to offer academic supports to parents and students. Last year, Dr. Grant helped with creating the center and two years ago she helped PK-5 Principal Mrs. Blanchard create a Literacy Luncheon program. Along with SUNY Plattsburgh, the FOS will work with local organizations to provide several interesting workshops. Currently, FOS have been working with the Washington County Sheriff's Department to have a sheriff in the school a couple of days per week to develop positive relationships with the students and offer assistance as needed. The Family Outreach Center is partially federally funded through Title 1 monies.

To all of my awesome helpers:

We are still trying to provide food backpacks to all the families in on our backpack program. Due to some of the food shortages and limitations stores have set on purchases we are struggling to be able to come up with food. We have also been trying to put extra food in the backpacks to help these families. If you have the ability to help provide the following items it would be greatly appreciated. They can be dropped at the school between 9 and 1 or if you want to throw it on your porch and give me your address I will happily pick it up. Thank you to all of you who continue to provide resources and help our program keep running!

Items needed:
Boxes of Cereal or oatmeal
Capri sun or other juice boxes
Cans of veggies
Fruit and apple sauce cups
Individually wrapped snacks
Jars of jelly and peanut butter
Cans of tuna or chicken
Mac and cheese
Soup
Chef boyardee
Spaghetti sauce
Pasta

Please avoid glass containers if possible

Operation Santa Claus

Don't forget to check out our GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/fort-ann-operation-santa-claus and donate to our Operation Santa Claus in Fort Ann! All money donated will stay in Fort Ann and be used for Fort Ann students. We thank you for all your support!

If you have an application to turn in for Operation Santa, our deadline is this Tuesday November 14th.

Lastly, we are doing a fundraiser for Operation Santa Claus this Wednesday the 15th at school in the cafeteria from 2-4pm. P!phany @ Dawn will be selling the Honey & Lace clothing line and donating a percent of her profits to Operation Santa. Don't forget tomorrow is Trunk or Treat!! It's not to late to decorate your trunk if you would like to be a part of all the fun!! Can't wait to see what everybody comes up with for tomorrow night! Also we will be doing our quilt raffle at that time too!

Talia Vaughn, freshman. I feel like I am branching out and meeting a lot of new people. I definitely have more of an open mind because of all the very different people here. I also am learning new responsibilities and communication skills.
