The Patient Care Pathway is a dual-enrollment pathway offered in partnership with Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). Students complete Introduction to Healthcare, Essentials of Healthcare, and Patient Care Fundamentals/Diet & Nutrition as the culminating course in the pathway.
Throughout the program, Mrs. Jeffries and Mrs. Efird work with students to prepare them for both the written and skills examinations required to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Upon completion of the required coursework, students participate in clinical hours to fulfill the program requirements and gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.
Students also have the opportunity to complete the full Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) by adding the final Medical Terminology course to their coursework.

The MPHS JROTC program hosted the 2nd Annual Raider Rumble Meet on Saturday, October 3. Over 35 teams from 15 schools participated. Events included rope bridge, team run, cross-country rescue, tire flip relay, and a kettlebell relay.

Under the leadership of Major Dunn and Command Sergeant Major DuBose, the MPHS JROTC cadets planned and executed the event from parking to route planning to setup and cleanup. Our female raider team also placed 2nd in their division.

Congratulations on a successful meet!

Our automotive pathway is taught by Mr. Purl. It includes a series of 3 courses that expose students to increasingly challenging concepts and skills related to automotive services. Students start with shop safety, tool recognition, and foundational concepts around preventative maintenance, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, engine repair, and HVAC. As they move into the 2nd and 3rd level courses, they complete more advanced hands-on lab work in preparation for the end of pathway assessment.
Students are given the opportunity to sit for the ASE Entry-Level Certification Exams after successfully completing the courses. This can serve as a stepping stone toward full professional ASE certifications.

Our CCA Advisory committee is made up of government, industry, and educational partners. Each year, we host a fall meeting to ensure that our programs are preparing students in the best ways for our community.
On September 29, we featured the business, finance, and programming pathways in our large-group meeting and then broke into small groups by pathway. Members in attendance were able to tour our labs and have deep conversations about what our programs are doing and how they can best support us.
The Monroe County Schools Nutrition department catered snacks for all attendees, and our MPHS agriculture students did floral arrangements for the tables.

On Wednesday, September 30, the Junior Leadership Monroe class of 2027 held its first session. We started the day in the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce office learning more about ourselves individually and as a group through a DISC assessment and activity led by Mrs. Margaret Holloway.
Following this group activity, we were given a tour of the county government building. They served us lunch in the boardroom while Commissioners Lamarcus Davis and Eddie Rowland, along with County Manager Lorri Byrd, explained more about how county government is organized and funded.
After our tour there, we walked to Forsyth City Hall, where Mayor Greg Goolsby met with the students and explained how the city government is funded and works, as well as leading a tour around the city hall building. Next, we toured the Forsyth Police and Fire Departments.
Our day finished with a trip to the Monroe County Development Authority offices, where Interim Director Caroline Cole, along with DDA board members Jim Cole, Lamarcus Davis, and Greg Head, shared how the DDA works to bring businesses and industries into Monroe County.
Thank you to all who helped make this first session both fun and informative for our students!

The 6th Annual Monroe County Lamb Show on Friday, September 25, was a huge success! Through our local 4-H and FFA programs, Monroe County students have the opportunity to show livestock across the state! This year, we had 3 elementary, 3 middle, and 4 high school exhibitors, along with 3 administrators and 12+ Peewee contestants. This show is all about celebrating the hard work and dedication of our students while bringing our community together to support them!

DEADLINE APPROACHING!!

Don't forget that MP students in grades 9-12 can compete for prizes, including a local 1st-place prize of $2,500, and the chance to compete at the state level. The competition has three rounds. In round one, students in teams of 1-3 submit a business plan after attending a business plan workshop taught by business professionals. A panel of judges will select 10 teams to move on to round two.

In round 2, those teams will receive seed money to start or continue their business and deliver a Shark Tank-style pitch to judges. From those 10 teams, the final three will be selected to continue their businesses, sharpen their pitch, and compete for the chance to attend the state competition!

The application deadline is September 30. Please direct any questions to Susan Little ([email protected]) or Laura Rackley ([email protected]).
