LP Music

LP Music Private music lessons for kids of all ages in violin, viola, cello or piano. In addition to all of this, I believe music should be fun.

Music lessons help develop our children’s brains, hand eye coordination, perseverance, and self confidence. During lessons I come alongside your child and experience and explore with them. I do stress learning proper technique and music theory, but I also find or create songs my students are enthusiastic about, such as tunes from their favorite video games, movies, YouTube videos, or artists. I al

so make custom duet arrangements of songs for my students who are siblings so they can play together at the holidays for their family. I teach in one-on-one sessions out of my home in Forked River NJ, or on Zoom or with FaceTime if traveling is too difficult. Currently, I have availability on Thursday and Sunday afternoons. I am fluent in several instruments, including violin, viola, cello, and piano. Lessons start at a half hour weekly at the beginner level, and are $40. Once the child develops the strength and concentration the lesson length is increased as needed. I start piano at the age of 5, and string instruments once the child is 7, with exceptions if the child is particularly motivated to learn. I work with communities that have particular needs and tailor fit the lesson plans for each student. I work with quite a few Jewish students and make custom arrangements of popular and holiday songs, and dress tzinut for the lessons. I also teach in the Jehovah’s Witness community, making sure we edit out the holiday songs in music books and making custom arrangements of the Kingdom melodies for my students. If you are with a different community I am happy to learn about your culture in order to make music lessons comfortable for your children and for you!

V’hee Sh’omdoh is such a rich and beautiful song for Passover. I made this duet for my sisters where one plays violin and the other viola. I love that they can play this beautiful arrangement for their family this holiday.

Another from the Klezmer Fiddler -I love how rich and full this one is. It would be an interesting one to add more parts to.

Mozart! A duet originally written for two horns. I have sisters who play violin and viola who are working on this 12 duet series and this one was giving them some trouble. I decided to duet myself for them to see. It was much harder “dueting” something with more complicated rhythm, but it’s close enough to work.

For St Pattie’s Day! The Musical Priest, compiled by Phillip John Berthoud.

This is “Freylechs from Warsaw” from one of my favorite books, “The Klezmer Fiddler” by Edward Huws Jones. Each song has an easy violin part to go along with it that I have never used before. Now that I’ve played them together I think I’ll have my beginner students learn a few so we can play a duet that sounds fancy! It will be good practice for holding half notes at the least.

Remembering the best times of 2023 and our student recital was definitely one of those times!!

Happy 12th day of Christmas!!
This is the last possible day for me to post this song -but it was so many weeks of work to figure out how to duet something (and updating my 15 year old computer and learning new programs), recording listening to a metronome and then realizing I was out of tune with myself, my naked children running and crashing the recording, a week long stomach virus for the whole family and me BREAKING THE NECK OFF MY CELLO. Lots of fun conflicts. So please don’t mind that this is the last possible day for me to post this in the Christmas season, and enjoy the hard work. I plan on dueting more in the future -and hopefully getting a little better at it. It sure is harder than playing a live duet with another human, I’ll tell you that! Merry last day of Christmas!

One of my students asked me for “Riptide” by Vance Joy. Since I couldn’t find any satisfactory snippets of it online I wrote out the sheet music myself. I had a lot of trouble deciding which tones he was singing at times, so your interpretation may be different than mine. Sheet music link below! ⬇️
