Standard advice for executive function challenges. And for most people with ADHD, it doesn't work.

Because:
Executive function isn't about forgetting to use tools. It's about abstract concepts having no concrete meaning.
When you tell someone with ADHD to "prioritize tasks," what does "priority" look like? What shape is it? Where does it exist?
For neurotypical brains, these abstractions process automatically. For ADHD brains, they don't.
It's not a character flaw. It's a cognitive difference.

Why is it that some students can spell "hippopotamus" but not "said"?
Sight words don't work for visual-spatial thinkers because there's nothing to see.
"Hippopotamus" = big gray animal with tusks. Picture created.
"Said" = ??? No picture. Brain disoriented.
Traditional phonics teaches sound-symbol relationships. But for 20% of students, that's not how their brain processes information.
They think in 3D pictures, not phonetic sounds.
What works instead: Creating concrete meaning through clay modeling. When students build "said" with their hands and assign it personal meaning, it sticks.

Here’s part of a letter I received from the mom of a client today.

“Her entire scholastic career she has had to have reduced assignments, extra time and still average 20 missing assignments most months

She is required extensive assistance from her study skills, class and myself to keep up

After her remediation with you, she is in her senior year. She is doing the exact same work as all of her classmates no reduction at work.
I have not helped her even once with homework

She has not had a single missing in assignment this year

Her grades are all A’s with two bees.
