In 2006 I decided to take a giant step and leave the working world and start an in home daycare that became Kreative Kids Preschool. It was a way for me to spend time with my own children while offering a safe and loving place for children to learn. I started with 2 children and added more. I had children on my waiting list and it stayed that way for many years.
Over the years I have made friendships with the parents and still love watching "my babies" grow.My oldest graduate is now in 7th grade.
I sent each child off to kindergarten knowing more than just manners and social skills, but they could read, write and do so many more things than most in their class.. I feel good about giving each child a good start in their academics.
It wasn't always easy, but it was my passion... and I loved every minute of it.
With a HEAVY heart, I have made the decision to close this chapter of my life and now a new one will start.
Along the way there was a child who stole my heart.. he was different.. not in a bad way, he was just different.... and I love him. He was diagnosed with Autism.. and I flew into action, reading all I could to help him and learn more about his diagnosis. Along the way working with him, I found myself wanting more and more information on how to help not only him, but other children. So I studied and changed things in my preschool to accommodate him and those that would follow.
This child, like all the others mean so much to me... I have loved them and cared for them all.
I am excited about my new chapter, I am excited yet sad.
Sad that Kreative Kids will no longer be, BUT I am excited to announce that I have accepted a position with Lynchburg City Schools working in a special needs classroom.
With that said, to my Kreative Kids Families.. Thank You... from the bottom of my heart .. Thank you for allowing me to be a huge part of your child's life...
