📖Read Across America📖

❤️We had three amazing visitors today in our class. I love watching the kids give their attention, answer questions, being involved, and filling the room with laughs!!! The room was filled with so many good vibes this morning.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Kaylee Anderson, Ms. Bullock, and Mrs. Keren Lott for taking time out of their day to come be a part of our class for a while.

🌟100 Days Smarter🌟

Today marked the 100th day of school! A few students dressed like they were 100 years old, and some came with walking sticks! They made a “100th Day Snack Bag” using different items grouping them by 10’s. All the students enjoyed making their 100th day hats, working in their 100th day packet that included different reading and math skills, and nibbling on a few things from their snack bag.
We are excited to watch the next few months unfold and see how much more these kiddos learn!

Just a little photo dump of our busy days in first grade!! These kiddos keep us on our toes! With half the year about gone, I look back on these photos and think about how blessed we are each day! We are so thankful that our parents trust us with their babies every day!

We have stayed super busy lately! These kiddos are learning all sorts of new things, but one of the most important is PhOnIcS! Phonics is the heart of learning to read. Using our Mapping Mats, the students were to count the sounds in the word, write each sound separately, and finalize it with writing the word. This is such a great visual and hands on manipulative that they love to use.
Learning about equal shares ended on Friday using a bubblegum activity! Math is always more fun when you can color, cut, and glue!
We ended our Friday with story time by our Rebel Reader football player and cheerleader. 🏈📣

New year and new students equals new memories!We have been super busy the past few weeks that I have not made time to capture many photos! I have enjoyed getting to know this new crew, and I am even more excited to see where this year takes them. Learning is in full swing in our class, and we hope you follow along throughout the year to watch us grow!

Telling Time in First Grade⏰

These kiddos have been learning all about the clock and telling time. They had a good time playing Telling Time with BINGO! We played until we had three winners! They are already wanting to play again!

⭐️100 Days of School⭐️

•100 days smarter and 100 days that I have gotten to spend with these sweet students! I have enjoyed every minute of being their teacher.

•Celebrated today with many different activities including counting by 10’s to 100 using some snacks.

iReady Reading Diagnostic for the win! 🎯These kids worked super hard today. I think today they showed me just how hard they could work, and they each showed how much they were committed to growing.⭐️ They were so proud of themselves, but they cheered and showed excitement for their classmates as well. They can’t wait to celebrate when we come back from Christmas Holidays. 🥳
I pray iReady Math is taken just as serious and that their scores will reveal so much growth.
I am beyond proud of each one of them. Great job girls and boys! I love each one of these kids, and I am thankful for their hard work and determination.

First Grade participates in Election 2024!
•Chocolate Chip vs. Oreo•

⭐️Students completed their Voter Registration Card while discussing the importance of having one. After tasting each cookie, the students came to the voting table, cast their vote privately, and placed it in the ballot box. After they voted, each student received their “I Voted Today” sticker.

⭐️Counting the votes proved it was a close race. Chocolate Chip won the election by 1 vote. Students were able to graph the votes and see how close the race was.

Another busy and fun day in First Grade learning about elections and casting votes.

🎃Halloween in First Grade🎃
What a day in first grade it was! We had a very busy but fun-filled day learning!

🎃Pumpkin Volcano

~Center Time~
🧙🏼‍♀️The kiddos enjoyed making witches brew using items that they got to add in themselves. They couldn’t wait to be able to eat their share.
🎳Each team member got a chance to bowl using ghost toilet paper. They had to apply their subtraction skills as they knocked over rolls and subtracted from the amount standing.
🫳🏻Sensory Time-I am not sure who enjoyed this more-the students or Mrs. Lauren. The kids had to close their eyes as they stuck their hands in different bags. They make predictions of what we used to make the different labeled items.
✍️We have been learning about the different types of sentences. Students had to compose a declarative, interrogative, and exclamatory sentence using correct capitalization and punctuation!
👻Students cut out their mummy and used yarn to wrap it!

We ended the day with goodie bags, cupcakes, cookies, and witches brew!

So proud of these kiddos and their reading! They love doing phonics and using those skills to apply to their daily reading.

We have also been learning about declarative sentences! They were able to work with a partner composing declarative sentences and sharing their sentences with the class. We love witnessing them cheer and praise each other.

We can’t wait to see the growth that each one makes throughout the rest of this year.

As we close out the first 9 weeks of school, we are super proud of these kiddos. Everything is so fast paced that we are excited for the days we get to make learning a little more fun for the kids. The smiles, the happy screams, and the encouragement for each other makes some days even more special. We can’t wait to see what the next 9 weeks brings!
