🔥 Together Tuesday at FHJH! 🔥

Today was all about celebrating what makes Forest Hill Junior High special: our students, our growth, and our community!

We started the morning by welcoming some familiar faces from our community for Together Tuesday, an initiative designed to strengthen the connection between our schools and the communities they serve. A special thank you to Mayor Ann Jeter, the Town of Forest Hill, Forest Hill Fire Department, Forest Hill Police Department, and School Board Member George Johnson for spending part of your morning with our Bulldogs. We appreciate your continued support of FHJH!

Later, our Bulldogs gathered in the gym for our schoolwide assembly. We celebrated the DIBELS achievement and growth our students showed last year, recognized our September House Heroes, and put a few House points on the line with a very competitive game of Hula Hoop Pass!

Whether we’re celebrating academic growth, recognizing students who live out our core values, or just having a little friendly House competition, we’re continuing to spark purpose, fuel growth, and light the way at FHJH. 🔥

Thank you to everyone who helped make today a great Together Tuesday!

🧪 Our 5th graders are taking learning beyond the classroom this week at Pelican State STARBASE in Pineville!

STARBASE is a Department of Defense-supported program designed especially for fifth-grade students. Throughout the week, students participate in hands-on, inquiry-based activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program gives students opportunities to experiment, problem-solve, collaborate, and see how STEM concepts connect to real-world careers and applications. (National Guard)

We love seeing our Bulldogs explore new ideas, ask questions, and put their problem-solving skills to work. Experiences like STARBASE help us continue growing innovative, collaborative, problem-solving learners for tomorrow’s world.

We can’t wait to hear about everything our 5th graders discover this week!

🔥 Sparking Purpose. Fueling Growth. Lighting the Way.

⭐️Mentor & Resident Spotlight⭐️

We are excited to spotlight Resident Dulce Olvera and her mentor, Mrs. Melissa Soileau, at Forest Hill Junior High. As a 2nd-grade resident, Dulce is gaining valuable classroom experience across Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies while learning alongside a dedicated mentor teacher.

We are thankful for returning mentors like Mrs. Soileau who invest their time, knowledge, and experience in helping our residents grow as educators and prepare for their own classrooms.

Every student in Rapides Parish eats breakfast and lunch at no cost. Keeping it that way takes just a few minutes of your time!

Survey Link: https://rpsb.la/2627incomesurvey

The Household Income Survey is a short, online form, and it does a lot of work behind the scenes. Your response helps us:

🍎 Maintain our Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), so every student continues to receive free breakfast and lunch, regardless of income.
📚 Access educational support services for students.
💻 Bring in additional resources for classroom materials and technology.

Completing the form does not change what your child receives. It simply helps us show the accurate needs of our community. Thus, helping us provide more opportunities for students!

Today, our Bulldogs came back…the adult Bulldogs, that is. 💚🐾

Our faculty and staff kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with a day focused on what matters most. We reflected on last year’s successes and lessons learned, set goals for the year ahead, celebrated the incredible work already happening at FHJH, and recommitted ourselves to our theme for the year:

🔥 FHJH Ignites
Sparking Purpose. Fueling Growth. Lighting the Way.

Along the way, we strengthened relationships, welcomed our newest faculty and staff by placing them into their House families, and introduced our new Bulldog Buddies to help build connections and support throughout the year.

Of course, no House kickoff would be complete without a little friendly competition! Our staff competed in the first House Challenge of the year, and Quantum House came out on top, earning the first 5 House Points of the year. Congratulations, Quantum! 💙🏆

The energy, collaboration, and excitement in the building today made one thing clear: we’re ready to ignite another amazing year of learning, growth, and success for our students.
