You know you need new headshots. I bet you're wondering why you still haven't booked them.
If you're one of the many people putting off updating your headshot or branding images, you're not alone.
For a lot of us, getting our picture taken ranks somewhere between going to the dentist and cleaning out the garage. We know we should do it... we just really don't want to. It doesn't feel urgent.
That is, until one day you suddenly need a current photo for your website, LinkedIn profile, or an upcoming speaking engagement. Instead of having the luxury of time to find the right photographer and plan your session, you're scrambling just to get something done.
Now you're rushing because you need an image, not because you're ready for one.
And that's rarely when we create photographs you'll truly love.
I truly understand. It's a vulnerable thing to step in front of a camera. Sometimes it's about self-image, and sometimes life gets busy. Either way, it's easy to push it to the bottom of the list.
If you're setting up this appointment believing you're the one who's expected to shine the moment the camera comes out, no wonder it feels daunting. Between wondering what to wear, whether your hair looks right, and whether you're going to like the finished photographs, that's a lot of pressure.
Before your session, we'll talk about the message you want your images to communicate, choose clothing together, and answer your questions so you arrive feeling prepared. During the session, I'll guide you every step of the way.
It seems to me that what we worry about most when we're getting our headshots done isn't really about the photographer. It's about our own performance. It's about wondering whether it's going to be worth it, and whether we're really going to like the photographs.
What I've found is that when we do the work ahead of time, and we give your session purpose instead of pressure, that's when we're able to create images you'll love.
With a little preparation, you don't need to know how to be photographed.
You just have to show up. I'll take care of the rest.
Give me a call. 😉
