Carrots are a root vegetable. They grow in the ground and need to be pulled out. Carrots come in different colors such as orange, purple, red, white and yellow.

At Circle Time, children make a list of animals that eat carrots. During the Healthy Carrots, Community Challenge preschoolers participate in a group activity that builds healthy eating awareness by discussing what foods are healthy and how food helps our bodies.

For Creative Art time, preschoolers create a carrot puppet by cutting their own unique carrot shape out of orange paper and then decorating it.

Feed the Horse Roll encourages children to match the Carrot Letter after rolling the cube, identifying the photo and then "feeding" it to the horse! And such a handsome horse he is!

Continuing with math, patterns are the focus with carrot and corn pictures, creating an AAB pattern.

Today's suggested story is The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krause.

“Workin’ on the Farm,” is the song of the day. During Music & Movement children work to harvest simple fruit and vegetable shapes around the room, identifying numbers on the shapes. Listen to this fun country-inspired song: https://youtu.be/mT8lhppiknw

Here is the new letter I just had to type up and send out because of the new two-week pause and the ELD contacting us providers.

Dear Families,
Due to the new Kate Brown Two week pause order we have been very aware of the new spikes in covid 19. We are going to be very diligent in making sure everyone is safe a healthy. Because of this new order please be very careful with your decision to bring your child to daycare. Please be aware we can not allow any children at the preschool with any covid 19 or cold syptoms whatsoever. This is all in line with the pause order and together we can make a difference! Ultimately we want our friends and Family to all be healthy and safe.

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

*Fever or chills
*Cough
*Shortness of breath
*difficulty breathing
*Fatigue
*Muscle or body aches
*Headache
*New loss of taste or smell
*Sore throat
*Congestion or runny nose
*Nausea or vomiting
*Diarrhea
If there are any visible signs of these symptoms above please do not bring you child to the daycare until symptoms are gone for at least 48 hours.

The staff will be very attentive to these symptoms during the daily health checks. I have asked them to go above and beyond in order to keep on the children are familie's safe with the recent spikes in the COVID 19 virus. Please respect the staff's decision to keep the families safe and if they notice symptoms they will need to contact parents or guardians for immediate pick up. A quarantine area is set up for any child showing syptoms but please be aware you will need to come immediately to pick your child up with any of the above symptoms. The quarantine area will be supervised at a safe distance but we don't have just one teacher to sit with children in quarantine and it's not fair or safe for the staff or other children.

Thank you all for being so cautious during this scary time and understanding with this decision.

Sincerely,
Katerpillar Kids Staff

Saying “Use your words” as a behaviour management instruction is a good start, but getting involved, working through basic feelings and guiding kids through their social struggles will equip them with strategies for next time.

Here are some suggestions for extending the concept of behind "use your words".
