Forest Grove Community School We provide a caring, smaller school environment that challenges students to reach their highest potential through learning rooted in the local community.

The Forest Grove Community School is a free public charter school in Forest Grove, Oregon that engages students in scholarship, stewardship and citizenship with the goal of educating for sustainability. FGCS currently enrolls students in 1st through 8th grades. We operate under a charter contract with the Forest Grove School District and are governed by an independent board of directors. We are an

Oregon non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. We serve students and families in and around Forest Grove, Oregon. We are located at 1914 Pacific Ave. in downtown Forest Grove, Oregon. Like all schools, we aim to teach students the 3 Rs: Reading, 'Riting, & 'Rithmetic. We call this Scholarship. But for us there are more Rs that are important, 6 more to be exact. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle are part of our Stewardship goals. And Relevance, Rigor & Relationships are addressed through our Citizenship goals. Key components of our program include:

We want our students to have an education at FGCS that yields deep understanding and that fosters a love of learning. We have crafted our program accordingly. Stewardship
At FGCS, our students engage in education for sustainability through hands-on, project-based curriculum. In addition, our school models sustainable practices throughout our operation. The combination of sustainability focused curriculum and operations steeps students in a culture of mindfulness and care for our future. Citizenship
FGCS students acquire the skills and motivation needed to participate in the civic life of their local and global communities through our culture of student voice and involvement through projects with community partners.

Schedule Your Family Visit Today!

If you haven't done so yet, please call the school office at 503-359-4600 to schedule a meeting for you and your students with their teachers next week on Weds., Aug. 26 or Thurs., Aug. 27 at FGCS. Visits will be scheduled in 20-minute time slots between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. each day (last morning appointment at 11:30 a.m., last afternoon appointment at 4:30 p.m.).

FGCS family-teacher visits are an opportunity for new and returning students, parents and teachers to meet in an informal setting before the school year begins to get acquainted (or catch up after the summer break) and talk about hopes and goals for the school year. Important Note: Family-teacher visits include parents, student and teacher, so please plan for a time when both you and your student are available. Visits take place at FGCS in your student's classroom.

Dear FGCS Parents - FGCS uses the online platform ParentSquare for all-school communications. FGCS parents who have completed registration for the 26-27 school year and/or who have had students registered previously in Forest Grove School District schools already have a ParentSquare account.

Note: ParentSquare, the school communication platform, is separate from ParentVue, the online platform used for registration. This message relates only to ParentSquare.

If you have never activated your ParentSquare account, you should already have received a separate message with a link to do that. We recommend that all parents download the mobile app for ParentSquare to receive messages to their phones.

If you have previously activated your account, please log in and choose your notification settings and language preferences for FGCS messages. If you do not see your FGCS student in your ParentSquare account, that may mean you have not completed registration. If you're certain you have completed registration, please contact me by email. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or help setting up your ParentSquare account.

Busted blender? Wayward waffle iron? Vindictive vacuum cleaner? Don't pitch those broken household items - bring them to our Repair Fair on Saturday, June 20th!

Volunteers will be on hand in the Rogers Room between 1:00 and 4:00 PM to diagnose and possibly fix small appliances, electronics, toys, clothing, jewelry, computers, and mobile devices. (Please note that gas-powered or hazardous items, vehicles, and weapons are not allowed, and volunteers do not offer clothing alteration or tailoring services.)
