School is officially out for the summer!☀️
We finished up the year with nature journals, pinecone patterns, tie-dye Tshirts, a day at the creek sailing our bark boats and field day fun!
What a wonderful year of learning, exploring, and making memories together!

Lord, my God, you have done many things-your wondrous works and your plans for us; none can compare with you.
They are more than can be told.
Psalm 40:5

A fun-filled first week of May at Forest School!
Fishing at the pond with Mr. Michael, making nature crowns, playing letter games, cooking quesadillas over the fire and taking care of our tadpoles!
Lots of outdoor learning and smiles🥰

How countless are your works, Lord!
In wisdom, you have made them all;
The Earth is full of your creatures.
Psalm 104:24

Finishing up March and April.
Spring is in full swing at Forest School…love watching everything come back to life after winter.
Tending the garden (picked our first strawberry) watching restock the pond, a visit from Minnie, the pony and learning horse care, to endless hands-on learning opportunities.
G is for glue and green grass, Y is for yarn and finding Y’s in nature, K is for kite!
Making memories in God’s beautiful world!

Snapshots from the end of February and early March.

Playing in the rain, making oatmeal, planting seeds and measuring our growing daffodils. Hiking to the creek and pond, collecting frog eggs to observe, and enjoying a special visitor who introduced us to the violin.
Learning and growing together in the beautiful world God gave us to enjoy!💕

This is what Forest School is all about and why we are totally immersed in nature.

Finland is leading the world in reading, not by rushing children, but by letting them play, discover, and grow at their own pace. Children there start formal reading at age seven. By age fifteen, they not only excel in reading, math, and science, but also report higher happiness and much less anxiety. Science shows the brain is ready for complex learning closer to age six or seven, and extra pressure before then does not give lasting academic boosts.

Your child’s love of building, imagining, and exploring is not holding them back. In fact, these activities build problem-solving, creativity, and resilience that support lifelong learning. Early worksheets and drills may look impressive, but research finds that children who start reading later catch up within a few years—and often stay more curious and confident along the way.

If you feel caught in the early reader race, remember the real win is a curious, joyful learner who loves questions and feels safe making mistakes. Be patient. Celebrate messy play, endless questions, and imagination. You are nurturing a thinker, not just a test score. Give their childhood the time and space it truly needs."
