LET’S GLOW!!! The majority of the Glow Show is now up and we were able to see what the final glowing experience will be tonight!!! The pictures are amazing but to experience it in person is a MUST!! One night only!!! Tomorrow night from 3 to 5:30…SMSA Student Showcase - 3K - 8th grade! Be sure to float on down for our first ever Glowing Art Collaborative Installation, brought to you by our students in Kindergarten through 8th Grades! You don’t want to miss it!!!

Counting down the days until the Glow Show!!! Mark your calendars for next Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:30. The students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade have all been painting up a storm to create this amazing under the sea experience for all to enjoy!! Be sure to float on down to the lobby area just past the chapel on second floor, by the fine arts wing and the middle school classrooms to enjoy the glowing experience!! Wear your neon as well to glow along with the sea creatures and plants. This is a limited viewing experience so be sure to stop in and see it before it floats away! Here are some recent photos of the installation…but there is so much more fun to be added. See you all on Wednesday…and bring along some friends, grandparents and family!!!

A sneak peek….at the beginnings of our first ever SMSA K-8 Glow Show! Students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade are working on an amazing underwater installation. Mark your calendars for May 17, from 3:00 to 5:30, for thid limited viewing event at our Student Showcase!!!

A new month, means a lot of new things happening in the SMSA Art Rooms! Take a look at what we are working on in each grade level! Congratulations to all of our February Artists of the Month!

SMSA ART STUDIO NEWS - FEBRUARY 2023 EDITION February was filled with lots of love! First, the kindergarten artists worked on stamping circles with different size containers. They learned how to color in using small strokes to color in neatly and completely. Next, they used texture tools and sponge rollers to mix blue and yellow to make green....

SMSA ART STUDIO NEWS - JANUARY 2023 EDITION A Thank You to All the Students and Families who helped with the Christmas Card Fundraiser this past December, as well as the Movie and Popcorn Fundraiser. SMSA ART STUDIO NEWS - DECEMBER 2022 EDITION The artists have been creating a winter landscape inspired by Canadian artist, Ted Harrison. They also learned about animals that live in the arctic such as; arctic hares, foxes, polar bears, and narwahls. These were fun to draw, cut out and add to our winter landscape. A Collaborative Christmas Design! As we get closer to Christmas, the 8th Grade students in each class are working on a Collaborative Christmas Zentangle Project. Each group discussed what design they were going to Zentangle, then using a projector transferred it to a 24” x 36” paper. They outlined their designs and now are in the process of working together to decide on Zentangles (various patterns or designs) to add to each section. They did also add more strings to break up the designs into various other sections. They are enjoying the ability to work on and create a piece of art together!

4th Grade Romero Britto Inspired Christmas Trees! We started with drawing 3-5 geometric Christmas Trees on our page, talking about overlapping, placement and size change. We then fractured our designs with a series of lines. Then, like Britto, we added patterns to all the sections, then outlined with a thick sharpie. To add color we are using fluorescent oil pastels, focusing on warm and cool color groupings. we will be displaying our final creations with black lights.
