Bethune Middle and Charlton County High School FFA Members compete in Floral Design Career Development Event
Blackshear, GA β Charlie Gowen, Juliette Maddox, Karmen Webb, and Kimbree Gowen, members of the Bethune Middle and Charlton County High School FFA Chapters , recently competed in the Junior and Senior Divisions of the Area 6 Floral Design Career Development Event. The Area 6 event was held October 1, 2026, at Pierce County High School in Blackshear.
The Floral Design Career Development Event challenges students to apply knowledge and skills used in the floral industry. Competitors have 30 minutes to create a floral arrangement using provided materials and a customer scenario. Students also identify 25 floral plant materials and tools. Senior competitors complete an additional 25-question written exam covering floral industry knowledge.
Arrangements are evaluated on category interpretation, balance, color, creativity, depth, focal emphasis, line, mechanics, scale, and unity. The event encourages students to develop technical skills, creativity, and an interest in floral industry careers.
We are incredibly proud of each of these students for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding representation of Charlton County.
