We’re Hiring a Long-Term Substitute Medical Careers Teacher. 🩺

DCIU is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Medical Careers Teacher to support students preparing for careers in healthcare.

We’re looking for a healthcare professional who brings real-world experience into the classroom and is passionate about helping students build the knowledge and skills they need for future careers.

Required qualifications include:
• Current Pennsylvania RN license, or another healthcare license/certification with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Licensed Practical Nurses may also qualify and must be willing to take and pass the Occupational Competency Assessment
• At least 4 years of industry experience and expertise

A valid PDE Vocational I or II certificate in Career and Technical Medical Careers is preferred, or candidates must be willing to enroll in a certification program.
This 10-month position follows a school-day schedule, with nights and weekends off, and offers excellent benefits.

Building Skills. Exploring Careers. Discovering What’s Possible at DCTS! 🌟

Middle school students rolled up their sleeves and explored future career pathways during DCIU’s Summer Camp at the Delaware County Technical Schools’ Aston Campus.

Throughout the two-week camp, students in grades 6–8 rotated through hands-on activities in Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Engineering and Health Occupations. Campers worked with tools and materials, prepared food, practiced cosmetology techniques, explored health-related careers and experienced STEAM learning in action.

Each activity was designed to help students build confidence, discover new interests and connect classroom learning with real-world career opportunities. At DCTS, students are not just learning about careers—they are building, cooking, designing, creating and imagining their futures.

Schools across our community and the nation continue to face significant challenges in securing qualified substitute teachers. DCIU's Guest Teacher Program creates an accessible pathway for individuals who are passionate about supporting students and schools. By providing high-quality training and practical classroom strategies, we are helping to build a strong pool of substitute educators who can step in when schools need them most.

The Guest Teacher Program offers a valuable opportunity for community members, career changers, retirees, and recent graduates to make a meaningful impact in local schools while helping districts address an ongoing workforce need.

Congratulations to DCTS students Liliana and Laila from Strath Haven High School on their incredible accomplishment at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis! 🎉

Competing against top students from across the nation, they earned an outstanding 5th-place finish in the Emergency Medical Technician competition. Their hard work, knowledge, teamwork, and dedication to healthcare excellence were evident throughout the event.

We're incredibly proud of the way they represented their school, community, and the next generation of healthcare professionals. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! 👏🚑🏆
