A survey conducted by the Liberia Education Forum has revealed that, about 90% of elementary pupils in the rural areas walk to school without shoes on their feet.
As a result, the LEF is launching a program under the theme: Walking in Shoes.
We are therefore appealing to those who can afford to please purchase a pair of shoes for a child living in the rural area. The Liberia Education Forum is not collecting these shoes. You can help a child of your choice by selecting any location and deliver said shoes by yourself or through anyone you trust.
Thanks for coming to the aid of these kids across Liberia.

The Ministry of Education wishes to announce to the general public that the deadline for registration for the WAEC's Senior High Schools Exams has been extended to February 28, 2017. Nine academic and vocational institutions in Liberia are expected to benefit from a scholarship program during the second semester of academic year 20016/2017. The program is a joint effort of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with the Chinese Enterprise.

Speaking on a local radio in Monrovia during the week, the Director of Communications at the MOE Maxim Bleatan named the University of Liberia, Stella Maris Polytechnic, Tubman University, Cuttington University, Grand Bassa Community College,Nimba Community College,Lofa Community College, Booker Washington Institute (BWI), and the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) as potential beneficiaries of the program.

Maxim Bleatan indicated that students studying in the fields of Management, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management,Electrical Engineering, Economics, Petroleum Engineering,and Agriculture are being engaged for the scholarships program.

However, he stated that prospective candidates for the program should have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 and submit written applications along with other supporting documents.

Bridge International Academies and Light to Learn are helping our educational system to improve in Zuluyee, Nimba County. Lighting facilities to enable students study during the night times. Thanks to the MOE for initiatiating this great partnership. Little by little we will get there.

Everyone has something to offer in improving our system; the students themselves are no exception. Getting to the best is the vision of Minister Werner and his team, let us give them the needed support.

These are photos from one of the public schools in Klay District, Golodee Lasanah town. Its population is about 200 students but the institution has only one teacher who happens to be the Principal (Mr. Gbelleh Dablah). He informed our team that visited the area that the lack of teachers is hampering the smooth running of the school. According to him, the charity group 'Mary's Meal' feeding program is helping to keep some of the students in school. Due to this situation, Mr. Dablah is contemplating on dropping the level of the institution from sixth grade to first or third grade since he alone cannot do it all.

Another factor posing challenge to the school going population in the area is the timing of the general market day which is Monday. On this day, most parents prefer to sent the kids to the market to sell produce and purchase other items for the week.
In Sass Town, Bomi County, the position of the market is directly opposite the school, while the market day falls on Wednesday.
The Liberia Education Forum believes that if the MOE begins the process of rotating teachers, this will help alleviate the shortage of teachers in the rural areas.
