****Important FHS Parking & Parent Drop-Off Information
As we prepare for the start of school on Monday, I want to make you aware of some temporary changes to parking and parent drop-off due to the Genesee County Drain Commission’s ongoing work in front of Flushing High School.
Unfortunately, this project is outside of the district’s control, as the county wastewater line runs directly through the front of our property. We understand the inconvenience this creates, particularly as we begin a new school year, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility. We are hopeful the work will be completed within the next few weeks.
Until then, we have made some temporary adjustments to student and staff parking, as well as the flow of parent drop-off traffic. As a reminder, the bus loop is reserved for buses only.
-Student Parking:
All student drivers should park in either:
The north student parking lot, staying well away from all construction equipment and restricted areas.
The south Fieldhouse parking lot on the Carpenter Road side of campus.
-Parent Drop-Off from Deland Road:
Vehicles approaching from Deland Road should:
Enter campus from Carpenter Road near the auditorium.
Follow the designated coned lane through the parking lot and across the front of the high school.
Drop students off along the designated area in front of the building.
Continue through the front lot and exit right onto Deland Road.
-Parent Drop-Off from McKinley Road:
Vehicles approaching from McKinley Road should:
Enter the south Fieldhouse parking lot from Carpenter Road.
Follow the posted signs and cones to the designated student drop-off area near the Woodshop/Fieldhouse entrances.
Continue around the Fieldhouse loop and exit back onto Carpenter Road.
Turn right onto Carpenter Road to return toward McKinley Road.
Please allow yourself some additional time, particularly during the first several days of school as everyone becomes familiar with these temporary traffic patterns. We also ask that you drive slowly, follow all cones and signage, and be especially mindful of students and staff directing traffic and be patient with law enforcement and staff as we navigate this.
We recognize that these arrangements are not ideal, but they are temporary and necessary to maintain a safe and manageable traffic flow while the county completes its work.
