Music classes and performance are challenging these days due to concerns of aerosols. I’d like to share a new way of doing music teaching, rehearsals and performances using EasyVirtualChoir.com - SAFE, EASY, FUN and FREE!
The software aligns audio/video tracks automatically and generates virtual performance videos instantly. Users have created videos for choir, band, orchestra, various musical instruments, music lessons, rehearsals, virtual concerts, auditions, recitals, music festivals, singing with sign language, skit, drama, dancing, foreign language learning, SEL programs, birthday and other celebrations etc., or simply for fun with friends and family.
EasyVirtualChoir offers opportunities and possibilities above and beyond the traditional in-person music performance. The site is being used by thousands of schools across the US and around the globe for virtual, hybrid and in-person music classes, rehearsals and performances. Teachers are delighted that it’s bringing back energy into their music programs. EasyVirtualChoir is so intuitive and easy that even kindergartners and 1st graders can figure out how to add their recordings.
Here is a 1-minute demo showing how the program works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3Lo6ImxFHk. I hope this amazing resource will be helpful to you and your students too!

Cheick Hamala Diabate - Millennium Stage (July 13, 2019)

Cheick Hamala Diabate is a Grammy-nominated musician from Mali, West Africa. Cheick Hamala was born into a griot family in Kita. “The music we griots play is not just about making nice sounds for dancing, it’s about giving a lesson to people about their lives. You tell them about what their grandfathers did, and what they should do now,” explains Diabate, whose griot roots run deep as first cousin to kora master Toumani Diabate, and nephew to legendary Super Rail Band guitarist, Djelimady Tounkara. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, the United States Senate, and the Smithsonian.

You can see Diabate at the Floyd Country Store with Earl White and Danny Knicely on November 13 at 7:30pm as part of "From Mali to Appalachia: A Musical Exploration." Tickets available here: https://www.floydcountrystore.com/event/from-mali-to-appalachia-2021-11-13

Teaching old time, bluegrass and traditional music and dance from Floyd County, Virginia and throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains

Since the 1980’s, The Floyd Country Store has been known as a community gathering place built on the celebration of traditional Southern Appalachian music and dancing. The Floyd Country Store is renowned as a place to experience authentic Appalachian music, and is home to a group of musicians, flatfoot dancers, and cloggers who are carrying on the tradition of their families who’d pass the time playing music and dancing together. Everywhere they could, these folks would gather with their friends and families from their front porch to the neighbor’s kitchen.

For almost four decades The Floyd Country Store has been a place where the musical traditions of Appalachia have been enjoyed by audiences coming to The Friday Night Jamboree, or shared at a jam session on Sunday afternoon. Now the Floyd Country Store will provide the opportunity to learn directly from these musicians and dancers so we can all rest assured, these traditions are here to stay and we will be enjoying them for a long time!

The Floyd Country Store is pleased to offer The Handmade Music School, dedicated to teaching old time, bluegrass and traditional music and dances from Floyd County, Virginia and throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains. The philosophy of The Handmade Music School is to “hand down” the songs and dances from the teacher to the student, phrase by phrase and step by step, the way it’s been taught in the Blue Ridge Mountains for centuries!
