Service Above Self in action! 💙💛

Today was a wonderful reminder of what Rotary is all about—serving our community wherever there is a need.

Our first stop was Flowery Branch Elementary School, where we had the opportunity to see the beautifully transformed teachers’ lounge. We hope this refreshed space provides our hardworking educators with a place to relax and recharge. They deserve it!

Our second stop was to personally thank Furniture Gallery for providing an amazing price on a sofa and loveseat to help make this project possible. Community partnerships like this make a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful for their generosity and support.

We wrapped up the day with another rewarding service project at My Sister’s Place, where four hard-working and dedicated Rotarians, along with two Rotary supporters, rolled up their sleeves and got to work making a difference.

Days like today remind us that service isn’t just something we do—it’s who we are. Thank you to everyone who helped make these projects possible. Together, we’re creating lasting impact in our community.

The power of Rotary is found in service, collaboration, and creating opportunities that make a lasting impact.

Tonight marked the first session of our year-long Art Enrichment Program, a partnership between South Hall Rotary and Hall County Rotary at My Sister’s Place, and what an incredible start it was! The evening was filled with creativity, encouragement, and smiles, making our first session a smashing success.

A special thank you to Phil Dennis, whose art instruction experience and passion helped make tonight’s program engaging and inspiring for everyone involved. His guidance set the perfect tone for what promises to be an amazing year.

We are excited to watch this program grow, encourage creativity, build confidence, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. This is Rotary in action—working together to create lasting impact, one brushstroke at a time.

Today, the South Hall Rotary Club welcomed Marla Lear, the new principal of West Hall High School, who shared her vision for preparing every student for success in college, careers, and life.

Principal Lear highlighted the many opportunities available to West Hall students, including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Honors Mentorship, and an impressive array of Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways. Students can gain industry-level skills in broadcast production, construction, graphic design, healthcare, manufacturing, and marketing while working alongside experienced professionals and local business partners.

She also discussed “The Spartan Way,” a new framework that promotes respect, responsibility, and high expectations for the entire school community. Principal Lear emphasized the importance of supporting students academically, emotionally, and personally, while sharing updates on new state legislation regarding student mental health and future cell phone policies.

Her vision is clear: prepare students for the future, strengthen community partnerships, and achieve a 100% graduation rate.

In club business, members also received an update from Mary Campo on our International Service Project supporting the purchase of malaria nets for women and children in Gambaga. We are now just $1,350 away from reaching our fundraising goal. Every contribution brings us one step closer to protecting families from malaria and making a lasting impact.

Thank you, Principal Lear, for sharing the exciting future of West Hall High School, and thank you to our Rotary members for your continued commitment to serving our local and global communities.

We also wrapped up our Diaper & Wipes Drive this week and delivered the collected donations to Family Promise of Hall County. Thank you to everyone who generously contributed to this effort. Your donations will help provide essential supplies and support to local families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference in our community!
