Montessori Country Day School - Flower Mound

Montessori Country Day School - Flower Mound Serving children from 15 months - Elementary (5th Grade). Owner: Natalie Snell

Montessori Country Day School fosters creativity, confidence, and independence in a caring environment, guiding each child to grow academically, socially, and personally. Tucked away in the serene country setting of western Flower Mound, Montessori Country Day School continues the Montessori Program that established its reputation in the community over 25 years ago. Serving families for a second g

eneration, children experience a home-like environment that creates a sense of security and comfort. Small class sizes with dedicated and experienced teachers open the door to learning.

“A child’s work,” Dr. Montessori wrote, “is to create the man he will become. An adult works to perfect the environment, but a child works to perfect himself.” (Montessori 1967)

Each child follows an individualized lesson plan tailored specifically for them after careful observation and close attention by the teacher. As children develop focus, they aspire to more challenging work after achieving success and building confidence. The Montessori method, philosophy, and materials provide the ingredients for a strong foundation for academic excellence. As a traditional Montessori school, Montessori Country Day School focuses on four areas of concentration: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, and Language.

One of the things that makes Montessori education so special is the mixed-age classroom.

At MCDS, while each child receives an individualized education and works according to their own learning plan, they are also part of a classroom community with children at different stages of development.

In a Primary classroom, ages 3–6 learn alongside one another. Younger children have older peers to look up to, while older children have opportunities to exercise developing leadership skills. Yes, even at 5 and 6 years old MCDS students are leaders!

Individualized learning, within a community of learners. That’s the beauty of the Montessori classroom.

Today we celebrated two special moments at MCDS!

🥳 We celebrated the birthday of Dr. Maria Montessori with beautiful artwork created by our students, honoring the woman whose vision continues to inspire our work every day.

🇺🇸🇨🇱 We also raised the American and Texas flags for the first time on our new flagpole! Our Elementary students had the special honor of helping hang the flags and all the children took part in our first flag ceremony and pledge.

A very special thank you to our MCDS PTO for making our new flagpole possible and helping create this meaningful addition to our school community.

What a wonderful day to celebrate Montessori, community, and country!

Rolling a rug, creating a workspace, and seeing a task through to the end.

With a teacher nearby offering guidance, encouragement and celebrating their hard work, our toddlers are learning to take ownership, build independence, and discover, “I can do it myself.”

A Gentle Start to a New Montessori Year!

The first weeks of school are about more than new lessons. They’re about building a new classroom community.

In Montessori, we call this the normalization period, a time for children to settle into routines, build relationships with their teachers and classmates, and feel safe and confident in their new environment.

That’s why you’ll see familiar activities like puzzles, favorite classroom lessons, and plenty of outdoor time. These simple experiences help children connect, practice routines, and find their place in the community.

For our toddlers, feeling safe, connected, and at home comes first. 💛

Before we build independence, we build relationships. Before we introduce new lessons, we build community!

Wouldn’t you love to see what your child is doing all day at school?

At MCDS, our teachers are wonderful communicators and love sharing little glimpses of each child’s day with their parents. From a new lesson to a special moment with a friend, these snapshots give families a window into their child’s day.

And even better, photos give you something to talk about at home! Looking back at a photo together can help your child remember their day, share what they experienced, and give you another meaningful way to connect!

Literacy begins long before children learn to read and write. 📚

In our toddler classrooms, we build the foundations of literacy through hands on experiences that make language meaningful. Here, a small group is exploring animal vocabulary by matching real objects to picture cards, building language, recognition, concentration, and early reading skills through Montessori work.

These simple lessons may look like play, but they are thoughtfully preparing children for what comes next: understanding that words have meaning and that pictures, objects, and eventually written language can all represent the world around them.

This is how we nurture a love of language from the very beginning. 🤍

We gathered together for Meet and Greets today at MCDS! Parents and children visited with teachers and met our enrichment vendors for Soccer Shots DFW Turning Pointe Dance Studio and Mad Science of Dallas & Fort Worth! We are proud to partner with these providers to offer our students these enrichment opportunities. Ms. Geneva is thrilled to step back into the classroom to offer Music classes as well as enrichment musical opportunities 🎶 and we are excited to continue to offer Spanish classes and newly, Art classes for our students.
