What a FUN way to kick off something new at FME!
Last week was our very first Enrichment Friday, and it was so special getting to see our Falcons learning, creating, building, moving, and exploring new interests all across campus! 🦅✨
A HUGE shoutout to our Specials Team, Mrs. Snyder, and Mrs. Swiedom for making this possible for EVERY. SINGLE. KID. at FME! 👏🏼❤️ From planning and preparing, to teaching and cheering our students on, they poured so much time, creativity, and heart into making it happen!
Our goal was to create opportunities for every student to experience something they might not otherwise get the chance to try—and Friday, our Falcons SOARED! 🦅✈️
Here’s a short summary of what our Falcons took part in: 🎨🎶🏃🏼♀️🧩🧱📚✨
Falcons Run with Coach Rogers: Our Falcon runners completed 87 miles combined… that’s more than 3 marathons! Everyone kept it safe, AND had the surprise of getting to run in the hallway!
Percussion with Mrs. Grimes: Kinder and 1st sang a song about a chicken who laid shaky eggs and created patterns/rhythms using rhythm sticks and tom drums.
2nd and 3rd had a back and forth rhythmic conversation using various drums over Halloween candy!
4th and 5th learned challenging rhythms in a meter of 5, and played each one on a different drum. We then had all of the rhythms playing at the same time and worked on various tempos.
Sculpting with Ms. Rice: Falcons used alternative sculpting materials to make 3D artwork. We cut, shaped, and problem solved as we made foil people, foods, and more!
Story Time Chess & STEM with Ms. Maynard: Kinder-2nd read about King Chomper and King Shaky and learned how they move through Chesslandia!
3rd-5th read about Rube Goldberg and began planning their own Rube Goldberg inspired machines!
And a very special thank you to Mrs. Swiedom & Mrs. Snyder for hosting Lego Lab for our Kinder Falcons. They worked together to build parts of a home!
