If your 20-something feels stuck in their career, confused, overwhelmed, or unsure where to go next...take a breath.
They’re not the only one.

The path after graduation isn’t as clear as it used to be. And even the most motivated young adults can fall into common career traps that leave them spinning their wheels.

In this article I break down the top career mistakes 20-somethings make... and how they can bounce back with clarity and confidence.

Here are a few you might recognize in your young adult:

- Letting other people make their career decisions
- Taking jobs without knowing what they actually want
- Not asking the right questions
- Trying to figure it all out alone
- Forgetting how many opportunities are actually out there

If your young adult is struggling to find their footing, this article is a great place to start the conversation.

“I don’t care what they do… I just want them to be happy.”
If you’ve ever said that, you’re in good company.

The hard part isn’t wanting the best for your teen or young adult, it’s figuring out how to guide them without taking over.

How do you steer… without controlling?
How do you support… without pushing?

That’s exactly why I created Parent Lab.

It’s a space where we walk through the conversations you actually need to have with your teen so they can find direction, confidence, and a career that fits who they are.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

✨ Allow me to reintroduce myself…

In my conversation with Shari Jonas, I opened up about how I got here, from discovering CliftonStrengths to becoming a career coach for teens and young adults.

If you’ve ever wondered why I’m so passionate about helping students find clarity, confidence, and direction… this clip says it all.

I believe every young person deserves to know what makes them unique, and how to use those strengths to build a future they’re excited about.

Thanks for being here. 💛
I’m grateful to do this work with you.

Enroll your teen in Pick the RIGHT Major

They are not hearing this info from their counselors

Process - How to determine a career path

Clarity - On what careers they don't want to do, so they know what they do want to do for a career

Confidence - your kid will be one of the most confident kids heading to college because they know why they are there

Classes run:

Sun Jan 25-Mar 1 @ 5:00
Sun Feb 1-Mar8 @ 6:30

When teens take my course, they are graduating from college within 4.2 years, versus the 5.5 years it takes college grads on average. All for the price of one college credit ($788).

Parents often tell me, “My kid’s resume looks fine.”

But here’s the problem 👇
A resume isn’t a list of everything your teen has ever done.

It’s a signal.

Today’s employers aren’t asking:
“What has this student done?”

They’re asking:
“Does this student make sense for the role they want next?”

If your young adult doesn’t know what they’re aiming for, the resume falls flat — even with good experience.

When teens get clear on:
• their strengths
• what energizes them
• what kind of work fits them

their resume stops being generic and starts telling a story.

And that story builds confidence everywhere...interviews, applications, and conversations about their future.

Life is way too short to spend time with people who drain the happiness right out of you.
And guess what?
That includes the people you work with.

- If your job feels like a daily energy leak…
- If you’re surrounded by people who make you question your life choices…
- If you’re counting the minutes instead of feeling motivated…

That’s not “normal.”
That’s a giant neon sign that it’s time to pivot.

👉 Call Kristin: https://www.kristinclark.com/contact

She’ll help you figure out what you actually want, and how to build a career that doesn’t suck the life out of you.

College shouldn’t be the discovery phase.
It should be the ex*****on phase.

When students show up without direction, they waste time, money, and confidence trying to “figure it out” in real time.
But when they walk in with clarity?
Everything moves faster...opportunities, connections, internships, momentum.

That’s exactly what Career Activator was built for.
It gives your young adult the direction they need before they step onto campus, so college becomes a launchpad… not a guessing game.
