2025-2026 Teacher of the Year
Today we celebrated our last day of school with a luncheon provided by Ladies Guild at Cuginos. Thank you to Ladies Guild for always treating our staff the best and always showing your appreciation! At our end of the year lunch we always make sure to award our Teacher of the Year. This year we were blessed with a three way tie for Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to the 3 staff members below who received the most nominations. You can read to see a snapshot of the nominations written by their colleagues. Congratulations ladies, now go enjoy your summer break!
❤️Erica McCarthy-Kindergarten
“I would like to nominate Erica McCarthy for Sacred Heart’s teacher of the year. Erica always goes above and beyond for her students. She is always willing to learn new things and never afraid to take on a new challenge.
She is professional, caring and extremely dedicated to her students. She is always willing to help her colleagues and does the extra mile to communicate with parents to make sure students are not only successful at school, but also supported at home. She gives her best everyday and always puts the needs of her students before her own. Everyday she comes to work and gives it her all, never settling for anything but the best for the students in her classroom. She has helped provide a strong academic and faith filled foundation for the students of Sacred Heart for over a decade and we are truly blessed have her with us. Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do throughout the years!”
❤️Becky DeMere-Learning Consultant, 3rd-8th
“Becky DeMere has been an incredibly positive and supportive addition to Sacred Heart since joining the staff several years ago. Although I do not work closely with her on a daily basis because I teach at a younger grade level, it is easy to see the dedication, compassion, and hard work she brings to her role every day. Becky is deeply committed to helping her students succeed and has built strong, meaningful relationships with both students and their families. She is approachable, collegial, and always willing to step in and help wherever needed. Her flexibility and ability to adapt to the many different schedules and demands of middle school make her an invaluable part of our school community. Becky’s kindness, professionalism, and commitment truly make Sacred Heart a better place for students, families, and staff alike.”
❤️Alexis Sanders-4th Grade
“Alexis is someone I count on every single day at school, whether it is academic support, or just someone to listen to my concerns. She tirelessly cares for her students and they know they can count on her. This year alone, she spent hours hand making desk pets for each of the 4th graders. She is amazing at making personal connections with her students and they know she cares. Alexis is always willing to learn even more about what is teaching so she can be the best teacher possible. Other colleges said Alexis always goes out of her way to help her students in every way that she can. She provides free tutoring for Math, does afterschool study sessions before tests for her classes to make sure they are prepared as they can be. She also co-chairs the Speech Team and devotes time away from her family after school and on the weekends to make sure the kids are well prepared, the school is represented and the are able to participate in meets and finals.”

8th Grade and Kindergarten Tea Party. Throughout the school year each of our 8th graders is paired up with one or two Kindergarteners. The 8th graders sit with their buddies during mass, meet up for crafts and other fun activities and most importantly serve as positive role models for our younger students. This is our way of celebrating their friendship and the last event for our 8th graders before they leave. Next stop, 8th grade clap out! 🥲

“5th graders competed in Dance Moves STL Colors of the Rainbow Team Match Championship on May 4 at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on UMSL campus. They did a great job performing all of the ballroom dances. 30 different schools compete in both the fall and spring semesters. 9 schools made it to the finals. We received bronze. I'm incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication! Congratulations!”- Mrs. Bates
Thank you Mrs. Bates for leading this program and all of your hard work to make sure our students were successful!

Today was our Victory Party Day! This was our celebration for meeting our goal of $60,000 for our Daily Cash Raffle fundraiser. Students and staff were treated with a dress down day, a snack from Pretzel Boys, and snow cones from the Kona Ice truck with sunglasses donated by White Orthodontics.
We also had a drawing today for some additional prizes for the families who sold 20 or more tickets. We are proud to say that this year we had 138 families who were eligible for this drawing! The winners of the drawing receive a $25 voucher for the School Picnic plus food and drink vouchers and their own special parking spot for the day of the picnic. Congratulations to the following families whose names were pulled during the drawing; Boruff, Wood, Leo, Mueller and Kaelin. ❤️
