🌟Meet Mr. McGinnis, Middle School Religion Teacher🌟

We are grateful to welcome our newest teacher to Sacred Heart!❤️ Mr. McGinnis brings many years of experience, a deep love for the Catholic faith, and a passion for helping students grow in their relationship with Christ. 🙏

Mr. McGinnis has been teaching since 2012 in both public and Catholic schools. Before joining Sacred Heart, he taught at Immacolata School in Richmond Heights and St. Theodore School in Flint Hill. He earned a master’s degree in Theology from Saint Louis University in 2006 and a master’s in Teaching from Fontbonne University in 2012. 🎓

One of his favorite parts of being a Religion teacher is the privilege of teaching students what they need to know and do to remain on the road to heaven as young Catholic Christians. ✝️ He also enjoys preparing his students to confidently defend the teachings of their faith when they are questioned by others. 💬

Outside of school, family is central to his life. He and his wife Catherine have been married for 13 years and are the proud parents of three wonderful boys, ages 8, 9, and 12. Their family is active at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. ⛪️

We are truly grateful to have Mr. McGinnis as part of the Sacred Heart family and look forward to all he will bring to our students and school community. ❤️‍🔥 Welcome to Sacred Heart, Mr. McGinnis! 🎉

🌟Meet Mrs. Nahil Urhahn, Office Assistant🌟

Some of the most important people at Sacred Heart are not always the ones standing in the spotlight. Mrs. Urhahn cares deeply about our school and the families who make up the Sacred Heart community, while helping to make sure things run smoothly with tuition, scholarships and more.💻 She approaches her responsibilities with professionalism, kindness, and a genuine desire to do what is best for the school and its community.🏫❤️

We are grateful for her work behind the scenes and the important work that she does, even when it's not easy. ❤️❤️

Mrs. Urhahn and her husband Christopher have been married for 29 years and have two daughters—Josie is a nurse and Juliana just started college at Maryville University studying Interior Design. She's also a proud pet mom to their mini goldendoodle Millie.

We are blessed to have Mrs. Urhahn—a caring woman who takes on a difficult job because she loves Sacred Heart! ❤️

🌟Meet Mrs. Johnson, 2nd Grade🌟

Celebrating her 22nd year of teaching, she brings years of experience, dedication, and a genuine love for her students to Sacred Heart School! Mrs. Johnson is LETRS certified. LETRS stands for Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling. It is a rigorous, comprehensive, professional two-year learning program based on the science of reading. 🔠📚

Mrs. Johnson says the best part of teaching is working with her students and watching them grow and learn. She also loves being part of the wonderful Sacred Heart staff and the community they have built together.🏫

Outside of school, family is at the heart of her life. She is married and the proud mom of two daughters, both students at Incarnate Word Academy—her oldest is a high school senior and her youngest is a junior. Their family also includes Lucy, their beloved dog! 🐶❤️

Her family shares a love of soccer, which means she spends plenty of time cheering from the sidelines and attending many soccer games. ⚽️

When it comes to Sacred Heart Field Day, you’ll find her enthusiastically cheering on her team in every event, with the car wash relay being one of her favorites! 💦🏃‍♀️

And if she were principal for a day? Her plan is simple: no homework and a four-day work week! 😂 We have a feeling that idea might get quite a few votes!

We are so grateful for the years of care, enthusiasm, and dedication she has given to her students and to Sacred Heart. Here’s to celebrating 22 years of making a difference! 🍎❤️

🌟 Meet Mrs. Maddock, 1st Grade 🌟

This will be Mrs. Maddock’s fifth year at Sacred Heart, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our school family! ❤️

Mrs. Maddock holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a LETRS certificate. LETRS, which stands for Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling, is a rigorous, comprehensive, two-year professional learning program based on the science of reading. Her dedication to growing as an educator is just one of the many things we love about her!

Mrs. Maddock especially loves teaching students how to read. One of her favorite parts of teaching is seeing the look on a student’s face when something finally clicks. Those “aha!” moments are what make teaching so rewarding! 📚💡

Her favorite teacher growing up was her first-grade teacher, Mrs. Sloan, because she was kind and made learning fun. We love that those same qualities—kindness and making learning fun—are at the heart of Mrs. Maddock’s own teaching!

When it comes to Field Day, you’ll definitely find Mrs. Maddock ready for her favorite activity: tug of war! 💪

Mrs. Maddock also has a special connection to Sacred Heart outside of the classroom. She and her husband, Dan, were married at Sacred Heart 14 years ago! ❤️ Together, they have two children, Hailey and Danny, and a playful Australian Shepherd/Lab mix who may be an old man now, but still firmly believes he’s a puppy! 🐾😂

🌟Meet Mrs. Mueller, Lucky Ducks🌟

For the past three years, Mrs. Mueller has had the joy of teaching our Lucky Ducks (Pre-K3) students at Sacred Heart—where she is also a proud graduate! She holds a degree in Child and Family Development with an emphasis on Infants and Toddlers, and she brings that passion for early learning into her classroom every day.🦆

“My favorite thing about teaching is all of the fun we have together. I love seeing their growth and understanding of new and exciting things throughout the school year, and how much impact early learning can have on a child. Their education at Sacred Heart starts in Lucky Ducks, and I feel blessed to be their first teacher here.”❤️

Outside of school, Mrs. Mueller and her husband stay busy raising their four boys! As a family, they love spending time outdoors and enjoying adventures together. Their family also includes their sweet dog, Phoebe. 🐶💕

We are so blessed to have Mrs. Mueller helping our youngest students begin their Sacred Heart journey with love, joy, and a strong foundation for learning. From being a Sacred Heart student herself to now welcoming our youngest learners through the doors, we are so thankful to have her as part of the Sacred Heart family! 🦆💙

🌟Meet Mrs. Cottone 4th Grade🌟

If you’ve ever been in the halls of Sacred Heart, there’s a good chance you’ve heard her before you’ve seen her! 😂 She has a big voice, a big personality, and an even bigger heart. Her students know her for her playful teasing, contagious energy, and the incredible rapport she builds with them.📣 She knows how to keep them laughing while making sure they know they are cared for.

This year marks her fifth year teaching at Sacred Heart, but this school has been part of her story for much longer. She is a proud Sacred Heart alumna, graduating in 2003! She went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in both Elementary Education and Special Education.🎓

One of the reasons Sacred Heart has always held a special place in her heart is the impact of her favorite teacher, Mr. Heisse, who she remembers as someone who genuinely cared about his students and was so much more than just a teacher. That same spirit of caring is something she strives to bring to her own classroom every day.❤️

She grew up in a huge Catholic family and loved having so many cousins, aunts, and uncles around. She is one of three siblings, with an older brother and older sister. Today, she is married to Anthony, whom she married in 2019, and together they have two beloved rescue dogs. 🐶🐶

We’re so lucky to have someone with such an energetic personality filling our school with energy, laughter, and love! ❤️📣

🌟 Meet Mrs. Sanders 4th Grade🌟

This is Mrs. Sanders’ fourth year teaching at Sacred Heart! She is a 4th grade homeroom teacher and teaches 4th grade Math and ELA (English Language Arts), as well as a 5th grade Math class.➗📏 She graduated from Lindenwood and worked in Early Childhood Education for eight years before coming to Sacred Heart.
Her dedication to her students was recognized when her peers named her Teacher of the Year last year!

Outside the classroom, she enjoys life in Old Town with her husband, their three girls, dog Winnie, and cat Zelda. When she has some downtime, you’ll likely find her crocheting, getting lost in a good book, or enjoying one of her favorite foods—sushi! 🍣📚🧶

🌟 Meet Mrs. Maier, 2nd Grade Teacher! 🌟

Mrs. Maier has been teaching for 10 years and brings an impressive list of qualifications to our school. She is certified in Gifted K-12, Elementary Education, and Secondary Speech & Theater. It is a rigorous, comprehensive, two-year professional learning program based on the science of reading.🎓

When Mrs. Maier was in elementary school, her favorite teacher was Mrs. Macias, who was kind and encouraging. Mrs. Macias even allowed her to shadow her in high school, inspiring Mrs. Maier to become a teacher! 🤓One of her favorite parts of teaching is watching students learn a new skill and seeing how excited they become when they master it!📚

When asked what she would change if she were principal for a day, she responded that she would make it possible to wear sweatpants every day! We can get behind that! 😊

Family is important to Mrs. Maier, and she and her husband, Scott, have been married for 18 years. They have two children: Ella, an 8th grader, and Ethan, a 5th grader.

We are so thankful to have Mrs. Maier as part of our school family and are excited for all the learning, joy, and encouragement she will bring to her 2nd grade classroom this year! ❤️

🌟 Meet Miss Emily Geerling, Art Teacher 🌟

Affectionately known as Miss E. by students, this year marks her fifth year teaching—and all five years have been right here at Sacred Heart! She earned her bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from UMSL, where she studied Fine Art and Communications.

Miss E. was homeschooled from kindergarten through 12th grade, and when asked about her favorite teacher, she didn’t have to think twice: “My mom!” 😊 In grade school, her favorite subject was English Language Arts (ELA) because she loved to write, although she was also drawing all the time.

Today, one of her favorite parts of teaching is getting to make art alongside her students and watch their creativity come to life. She especially treasures the gifts students make for her—including pictures they’ve drawn of Miss E. or her favorite little green-clad video game character, Luigi! 😄💚

She is also the smiling face you may see in the morning, waving at you in the drop-off line. We are so grateful for Miss E., who inspires our young artists and helps them discover just how much they can create!

🌟 Meet Ms. Pevril, Technology Grades 3-8 🌟

With a passion for education and a lifelong connection to the Sacred Heart community, Ms. Pevril brings both experience and heart to everything she does.

Before joining Sacred Heart, Ms. Pevril retired from the Special School District after a rewarding career in education. 🎓 She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Special Education, giving her a wonderful foundation for helping students learn, explore, and grow. 🌟📚

But Ms. Pevril’s connection to Sacred Heart goes far beyond the classroom. ⛪❤️ She has attended Sacred Heart Church for most of her life and was once a student at Sacred Heart School herself! In fact, Sacred Heart has been part of her family for generations—her grandmother, her mother, Ms. Pevril herself, and her children have all walked these halls.

When asked what makes Sacred Heart so special, Ms. Pevril shared that it is the school’s multi-generational community. So many students, teachers, parents, and grandparents have been part of Sacred Heart throughout the years. That lasting connection speaks volumes about the quality of education, faith, and sense of family that make Sacred Heart such a special place.

We are so grateful to have Ms. Pevril sharing her knowledge, experience, and love of learning with our students! 💻🌟 Her story is a beautiful reminder that at Sacred Heart, education is more than what happens in a classroom—it is a tradition, a community, and a legacy passed from one generation to the next. ❤️🏫🙏
