Yesterday, our community demonstrated its commitment to the children of Hazelwood by passing Proposition H. I want to sincerely thank every resident who took the time to vote. Whether you supported Proposition H or not, your participation reflects the shared responsibility we have for the future of our district.

I am especially grateful to those who placed their trust in Hazelwood School District. We do not take that trust lightly. We will honor it through transparency, responsible stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and families.

This vote is not the finish line. It is the beginning of the next chapter. Together, we will continue building schools where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Prop H is a Zero-Rate-Change

Transfer that would reallocate a portion of the district's existing tax rate authority from the Debt Service Fund to the Operating Fund. If approved by voters, the district's overall tax rate would remain unchanged. The proposal was developed in response to projected reductions in state funding, including an estimated loss of approximately $4 million this year and the potential loss of nearly $30 million over the next five years, plus the impact of the Senior Tax Freeze.

You will hear district communications centered around three key themes:
State Funding Reductions – School districts face financial challenges, including the projected loss of state revenue.

A Zero-Rate-Change Solution – How Prop H uses existing resources through a transfer of tax rate authority while keeping the district's overall tax rate unchanged.

Keeping Students First – How the proposal is designed to help maintain educational opportunities, including classroom instruction, transportation, student programs, extracurricular activities, and the dedicated staff who make those opportunities possible.

With more than 25 years of experience in public education, Dr. Jamison is a proven leader who is passionate about student achievement, equity, and building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. As both the parent of a Hazelwood West graduate and a former Hazelwood resident, she brings not only exceptional leadership but also a meaningful personal connection to our district.

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Hazelwood School District. We are thrilled to have Dr. Jamison leading our district and look forward to the future together.
