Summer is a great time to explore and learn together as a family! SSD’s FACE (Family and Community Engagement) encourages families to take advantage of the many educational and affordable opportunities our community has to offer this summer. When students visit places like the Zoo, Art Museum, or Science Center, they experience things that cannot be replicated in a classroom. Educators call this building background knowledge—the real-world experiences that help students better understand what they read and learn in school.

Northview’s stage was full of talent, creativity, and confidence at this year’s Talent Show! 🎤🕺🎹
More than 20 student acts entertained the crowd with singing, dancing, drumming, piano, gospel music, yoga, and free-style rap performances. Students performed individually, in duos, and in groups while sharing their talents with the school community.
One audience favorite was the Superhero Dance performed by Darla Maynard’s class, featuring students in capes and masks dancing across the stage. Senior Maya Wilkes also wowed the audience with her performance of “Irreplaceable” by Beyoncé.
“I am absolutely floored by the level of courage and artistry our students displayed on stage during our talent show,” said Principal Brian O’Connor. “To say I’m a proud principal would be a massive understatement; I’m inspired.”
