We would like to highlight some of our recent graduates! We can only have so many speakers at graduation, and we thought this would be an opportunity for our students to share their story. We are sharing the graduate's words with as little adjustment as possible, so these are their stories.

Today's graduate: Ericka Gray!

My name is Ericka J. Gray, and I am honored to share one of the greatest accomplishments of my journey. I proudly graduated from the MERS Goodwill Excel Center with a 3.9 GPA as an Honor Roll student. This achievement represents countless hours of hard work, determination, sacrifice, faith, and an unwavering commitment to reaching my goals.
During my time at the Excel Center, I also had the privilege of serving as an Ambassador Student, where I represented my school, encouraged fellow students, and inspired others to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams despite any obstacles they may face.
In addition to earning my diploma, I successfully obtained certifications as a Certified Medication Technician (CMT), EKG Technician, Social Service Designee (SSD), and Substitute Teacher. These accomplishments reflect my dedication to personal growth, professional development, and my lifelong passion for serving and helping others. Each certification has strengthened my skills and prepared me for the next chapter of my journey as I continue working toward becoming a Registered Nurse.
My story is proof that it is never too late to pursue your dreams. No matter how many setbacks, challenges, disappointments, or life experiences you face, hard work, perseverance, dedication, and faith in God can help you overcome and achieve success.
I am incredibly grateful to God for giving me the strength to keep going, even during difficult times. I also want to thank my family, friends, instructors, mentors, and everyone who supported, encouraged, and believed in me throughout this journey.
This is not the end of my story—it is only the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. The future is bright, and I am ready to walk confidently into the purpose God has planned for my life.
Still Standing. Still Growing. Still Believing. 💙🎓✨

Today's graduate: Rochelle Sanders!

"A lil back story for my accomplishment. I went to high school, had a fight in the 9th grade got suspended for 90 days. Went back and did all four years just to find out I wasn’t graduating. I had to do another half of year. So I quit I gave up. I took the GED test twice and failed both by one point. So then here comes the disappointment in myself once again. So over the years I felt incomplete and stuck because of this one thing I needed in life. Then in 2025 my daughter told me about this school and I enrolled. I work during the day and went to class in the evening. I stuck with it I didn’t give up and look at me now I DID IT at 52 years young and it’s only up from here. You’re looking at your soon to be Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant 🎉🎉🎉❤️🥰💪🏽👍🏽 Won’t he do it 🥰 This is my testimony and wanted to share it. It’s never too late to make a change, Amen"

Today's graduate: Kayla Hampton!

"I walked across that stage and received my high school diploma… and honestly, words can’t even explain what this moment means to me. My journey wasn’t perfect. I’m not gonna sit here and act like it was. I lost focus as a teenager. I went through drama, fights, skipping school, being in and out of foster care, being separated from my mom, carrying pain that I didn’t even know how to explain back then. By my senior year, I had 19.5 credits and got sent to alternative school. At the time, I felt defeated. I felt misunderstood. I felt like life was already counting me out before I even had the chance to figure myself out.

But deep down, finishing school never left my mind. As I got older and became a mother of three beautiful children, life got even harder. There were days I was mentally exhausted, emotionally drained, struggling to make ends meet, trying to be strong for everybody while still figuring out how to be strong for myself. I wanted to give up so many times. So many nights I cried. So many times I questioned if I was capable.

But quitting would’ve taught my babies to stop when life gets hard… and I needed them to see what perseverance looks like.

When I found the Goodwill Excel Center, everything changed for me. For the first time in a long time, I felt supported instead of judged. I felt seen. They reminded me that my story wasn’t over. And yesterday.. I FINISHED✔️✔️ Walking across that stage while being a full-time mom healed a part of me that’s been broken for years. That diploma means more than paper to me. It represents survival, Growth, Strength, Sacrifice, Late nights, Tears, Healing And proving to myself that I was always capable-I just needed another chance. To anybody who feels behind in life, listen to me carefully: YOUR STORY IS NOT OVER. It does not matter how long it takes you. It does not matter how many mistakes you made. Keep going!!!!

I’m proud of myself.
I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming!
And most importantly… my babies got to watch their mama win🌟🫰🏾

Today's graduate: Angela Wise-Payne!

"It’s been God all the time. 🙏🏾🙌🏾🦅

The glass ceiling is finally broken from over my head.
Truth of the matter is that it’s been broken for years now.
I can look up and see nothing but the beautiful sky and it’s not my limit; it’s so much more to my story.
I’m in continuation mode.

All of my hard work, dedication and sacrifices have paid off.
The early mornings, late nights and me trying to balance my family, church and work life.

Let me not forget the tears 😭
There were days that I felt inadequate and I wanted to throw in the towel but quitting was not an option for me.
I had to stay the course.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

My support system held me down 10/10.
I learned through this journey that silence is golden.
My class mates were the best a village with in a village.
I can honestly say that there was no competing against one another.
We all helped and encouraged each other daily.
All of my teachers and staff members brought something different to the table. Thing’s that I will hold on to forever.

I will leave you with this.
Never ever give up on yourself; your dreams and aspirations.
Stop being your own worst critic.
Don’t look at what you don’t have.
Always apply yourself.
Don’t despise small beginnings; everything has a starting point.
Don’t compare yourself to others.
Stay in your own lane.
Never allow your past to dictate your future.
Age is nothing but a number; it’s never too late to begin again.

Don’t stop dreaming and don’t stop showing up for yourself 🫶🏾

Let this be your affirmation

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

You got this
Matter of fact
We got this
No one would ever be counted out on my watch.
We all matter 🙏🏾🌻🙌🏾🦅
I live by this 🙏🏾🫶🏾🌻🦅

Love & Peace 🙏🏾🫶🏾🌻🦅"
