This week, I officially completed my Where Is Dr. Jamison in HSD tour with a visit to our Early Childhood Centers, and our littlest learners did not disappoint!
I loved seeing our staff engaged, enthusiastic, and caring for our youngest learners in ways that help them feel safe, supported, and ready to grow.

While my first tour across HSD is complete, my time in our schools is not. I will continue visiting schools each month, listening, learning, and staying connected to the needs of our students and the adults who support them every day. The tour may be over, but the learning continues.

The beauty of being in our schools is having the opportunity to join in the learning and activities happening each day. One of my favorite books is The Dot. Its message is simple but powerful: believe in yourself, have the courage to make your mark, and see where it takes you.

During my visit to Grannemann, Mr. Gardner invited me to contribute my own dot. My message was simple: Believe. Belief can be the catalyst that transforms a classroom, a school, and an entire district. When we believe in our students, our staff, and one another, we can all thrive as One HSD.

All means all! Today, that meant listening to the people who help move thousands of our students safely each day: our Transportation team.

As part of my Listening to Learn sessions, I spent time hearing directly from our transportation staff about what is working, what is not, and what they need from us to do their jobs well. They were candid. I listened.
Now comes the most important part: what we do with what we heard.

Their feedback will not sit on chart paper or disappear after a meeting. We will analyze the themes, identify what requires action, and build a plan with accountability. If we say we are ONE HSD, every employee should be able to see themselves in the ONE.

Mission accomplished! In just nine days, “Where in HSD Is Dr. Jamison?” reached every school in our district, with our Early Childhood Centers scheduled for Tuesday!

It was an ambitious goal, but being visible matters. I want our students, staff, and families to know their superintendent, see me in our schools, and understand that I am here for them. I know what is possible when we work together. We are ONE HSD!

Where in HSD Is Dr. Jamison? As I work toward visiting every school during the first two weeks of school, my latest stops were Townsend, Lawson, and McCurdy!
There are amazing things happening in our schools, and our community deserves to see them. We have to tell our own story and celebrate the learners and staff who make HSD special. I even bumped into Mrs. Brunt’s who I taught with in another life! What a day! Where will I show up next? 👀

Day 7: “Where in HSD Is Dr. Jamison?” took me to Hazelwood East Middle and High, Arrowpoint, and Jury! Connecting with our students and staff is always the best part. I also discovered that East High has two E-Sports classrooms! Every school visit gives me something new to celebrate. Where will I show up next?

Today’s stops in “Where in HSD Is Dr. Jamison?” took me to Lusher and Cold Water Elementary Schools!
There is something special about seeing our learners fully engaged and our teachers excited about the work happening in their classrooms. Those moments continue to remind me why I love this work and today brought a first: I held a turtle in Lusher’s Turtle Garden! Who else knew this hidden gem existed?
Where will I show up next? You never know!

You do not know what you are missing until you experience it! Today, I attended my first Hazelwood football game as West faced East, and it did not disappoint. West brought home its first win against East in quite some time!

I cheered, clapped, connected with families, and, my favorite part, spent time talking with our students.
Mizzou, get ready. You have an incredible drum major coming your way!
