We spent June 27 sightseeing in Salzburg, Austria. Among our stops in the Altstadt: Mirabell Gardens, Makartsteg bridge, Mozart’s birthplace, organ concert in Salzburg Cathedral.
Also, many of us rode the funicular up to Hohensalzburg fortress for a tour and great views of the city and countryside.
And two of our group (Lisa and Pat) went hang gliding!

Our third full day in Bavaria on 6/26 was a travel day from Friedrichshafen to Salzburg, Austria. Along the way we stopped for a short visit at Hohenschwangau/Neuschwanstein, then stopped at Prien am Chiemsee for a lovely dinner by the lakeshore.

Our second concert was the evening of 6/25 in the town of Röthenbach, and also arranged by Oskar and hosted by our friends of the Musikapelle Röthenbach. Another enthusiastic audience!
"Vielen dank" to Oskar, Erwin Pichler, Fabian (who sat in on drums), and all those who made these concerts a success and allowed us to spend a little time with old friends.

We spent the day on 6/25 in the lovely town of Lindau, which is situated on an island on the shore of Lake Constance near where the German, Swiss, and Austrian borders meet.

From our concert in Hergensweiler on 6/24, set up by our friend Oskar Bihler, who also guest-conducted the band on his arrangement of "Germania-Marsch". Terrific audience and a beautiful evening!

We're long overdue to post some photos of Northwinds' trip to Bavaria and Salzburg in June! We arrived in Munich on 6/23 and after dinner at Schnitzelwirt, traveled to Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. The next day, quite a few took a ferry over to Romanshorn on the Swiss side of the lake, while others checked out the Zeppelin Museum.

Join us for a night of music at the Florissant Performing Arts Center dedicated to launching the next generation of artists and musicians in North County. Our third in the “Stardust Serenade” series, this year’s benefit concert, titled “Taking Flight,” will feature songs from pop music, the classical world, and Broadway. Northwinds is proud to participate in this event where the stage will be filled with a variety of acts, including soloists, a full chorus, and string orchestra comprised of current and former members of the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Since the first concert in 2022, the “Stardust Serenade” concerts have raised more than $20,000 for the Mary and Ike Eichenberger Music Scholarship as well as the Music Departments of the Ferguson-Florissant School District.

Northwinds is excited to be returning to Germany and Austria at the end of this month!
Northwinds, under long-time director Larry Marsh, was hosted in 2005 by the Musikapelle Rothenbach under the direction of Oskar Bihler. The Röthenbach band visited St. Louis in 2003 and 2008, performing concerts here.
Current director Hadley Haux will lead the band in concerts in Hergensweiler, Röthenbach, and Munich, with time for sightseeing around the Bodensee (Lake Constance), Hohenschwangau, and Salzburg as well.
