Jamal and Kobe's Great St. Louis Adventure 06/19/2025

šŸ“š Exciting News! šŸ“š

I’m proud to announce the release of my new children’s book, Kobe and Jamal’s Great St. Louis Adventure! šŸ¾šŸŒ† This story follows a young boy and his golden doodle as they explore our city, discover hidden gems, and learn life lessons.

Writing this book wasn’t just about telling a story; it was about uplifting literacy in a way that feels real and joyful for our youth. Working closely with young people every day, I see firsthand how critical it is that our children not only know how to read but learn to love reading. Literacy opens doors, builds confidence, and shapes futures.

I wrote this book to inspire curiosity, imagination, and the joy of learning in every young reader, especially those who don’t always see themselves in the pages of a book. We must ensure our youth are not only reading but understanding, dreaming, and believing that their own stories matter too.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported this journey so far. Let’s keep building a city and a world where every child knows they can read, lead, and succeed. šŸ’™šŸ“–

ā€œI’ve spent many years supporting youth and families, and one thing that has remained constant for me is the importance of providing access and creating opportunities that allow young people to dream big. I believe that ensuring they receive a high-quality education is key to changing the trajectory of their lives and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Yesterday was amazing! Congratulations to the Class of 2024. One of my biggest honors is being able to hand scholars there diplomas as a member of the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education. It is an even bigger honor being able to hand scholars I've coached and had an impact on their lives. Those young men don't even understand they've had more on an impact on my life then I've had on them. One of those days that puts everything in perspective as your why.

Listening is a skill set every influential leader needs to have. if you don't have buy-in from the people you serve you will not be effective.

I think we should all go through the training the Girl Scouts go through; how I ended up buying some cookies, I still can’t understand. I love supporting our youth in doing positive things.

Happy National School Counselor Week. School Counselors are some unspoken heroes of schools. I salute all you do for our community and our schools. We are FFSD strong!!!

It is so easy to focus on what we don’t have or what we are not getting instead of focusing on having a grateful spirit and practicing the act of gratitude. We can all find something to be grateful for.
