The Hanover Park Regional High School District was represented at the 2022 NJ School Board Association Workshop in October. Valuable training sessions, state-of-the-art technology, and outstanding keynote speakers were presented. District Board members in attendance: Board President Debra Davis (EH), Dr. G. Freda (H), Tim Donohue (H), Joanne G. Tobias (FP), Joe Peluso (EH).

• The HP Boys Soccer Team for winning the NJAC Independence Division Championship.

• Jack Lemongello, HP Cross Country Team, qualifies for the Group Championships in Holmdel.

• Alyssa Alfano for breaking the Girls Soccer School Record for goals scored.

• Jack Massarano for being honored as the NJSFC Young Man of the Year. Jack was honored for being an outstanding all around student-athlete and person.

FACTS MATTER
Here are some facts. I believe that public school Boards of Education should remain non-partisan and apolitical. Boards of Education are no place to push personal, political doctrine. With that said, it seems I’ve been associated with the latest catch phrase, “woke culture.”
For those of you who don’t know me or anything about my background, this is who I am. I’m the daughter of a first-generation Italian mother and career
United States Marine father born and raised in the south. I’m a wife, mother, educator, and US Air Force veteran. There are people who use the image of our flag as a prop, and those who swear an oath to defend it with their life.
And – critical race theory Does Not Exist in any curriculum at Hanover Park High School. The entire curriculum is available to view on-line. Let’s stop “fishing” for issues and focus on the facts. Worse yet, stop making them up because there is nothing of substance to offer.
The opportunity to debate in a public forum was offered by the League of Women Voters, but the offer was declined. Because of that, the candidates’ debate night for the Hanover Park Regional High School District BOE was cancelled, however, I was ready and willing to answer any and all of your questions since I’m asking for your vote. Having manipulated, one-sided conversations or using backchannels of social media to spread misinformation is for cowards.
Another word being tossed around is, change. As I mentioned on my campaign web site, months ago, I don’t believe in “change for change sake.” Change must be thoughtful and developed. Change must be beneficial to the entirety of the targeted population. In this instance, the students – your children.
It’s easy to throw popular catch phrases, opinions, and unproven theories at the wall to see what sticks. Do your worst but that won’t work here. There is no room for error when it comes to the education of our children.
My promise to the parents, students, and staff is to see Hanover Park High School remain a top high school in all areas. These are particularly challenging times right now; but, when it comes to our students, I know with your support, I can continue to represent them with the same values and ideals that you instilled in them. This is what you should expect of me, and this is what I expect of myself.

NEW CLASS OFFERED AT HP
Hanover Park Regional High School District has partnered with New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. NJMEP will offer certification and apprenticeships in the field of manufacturing through a new course called Logistics and Manufacturing, in the 2022-2023 school year. This course provides two certification programs: 1. Supply Chain Logistics Technician 2. Manufacturing Production Technician. Both certification programs deliver 21st century, in-demand skills needed for long-term career paths. Students enrolled in this course are very excited and motivated.

Congratulations to the following Hanover Park High School seniors who have been named National Merit Commended Scholars in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test.
