Ever wondered how an idea becomes a product ready for the plant floor? Here’s your opportunity to see the process firsthand—and it’s FREE to attend.

On Wednesday, September 23, InnoVision Awards will bring its "From Prototype to Plant Floor" series to the SIMT - Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing & Technology (SiMT) at Florence-Darlington Technical College.

Anyone interested in innovation, advanced manufacturing, healthcare technology, engineering, entrepreneurship or product development is invited to attend. Participants will tour SiMT’s industrial 3D-printing and advanced-manufacturing facilities and hear from DeGen Medical and GE HealthCare during a panel discussion on healthcare innovation in South Carolina.

SiMT Manufacturing is excited to welcome an additional Stratasys Fortus 900 FDM printer to our lineup of industrial 3D printers!

Adding a second F900 will significantly expand our large-format FDM production capacity, allowing us to support larger projects, offer greater material versatility, and provide shorter lead times for our customers. The Fortus 900 is Stratasys’ flagship large-format FDM platform, providing a 36" × 24" × 36" build envelope and the capability to produce large, production-grade thermoplastic parts. We’re excited to get the new machine installed, qualified, and ready to support our customers and the continued growth of SiMT Manufacturing!

The SiMT Manufacturing team was happy to assist a team of students from Oklahoma Christian University (OCU) with their submission to the Air Force Research Laboratory - AFRL's 2026 Aerospace Propulsion Outreach Program (APOP). The OCU team was challenged to design a heat exchanger for a small gas turbine engine, which uses bleed air from directly behind the compressor as the heat source. It was printed in aluminum on our EOS DMLS Industrial 3D printer.

After testing the 5th-generation prototype (Proto 5) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the OCU team attended the APOP poster session at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. They placed 3rd in the competition, and received the "Best Dressed" award for having the best looking display at the poster session. Check out the SiMT acknowledgement on their poster!
