The SiMT Manufacturing team was happy to assist a team of students from Oklahoma Christian University (OCU) with their submission to the Air Force Research Laboratory - AFRL's 2026 Aerospace Propulsion Outreach Program (APOP). The OCU team was challenged to design a heat exchanger for a small gas turbine engine, which uses bleed air from directly behind the compressor as the heat source. It was printed in aluminum on our EOS DMLS Industrial 3D printer.

After testing the 5th-generation prototype (Proto 5) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the OCU team attended the APOP poster session at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. They placed 3rd in the competition, and received the "Best Dressed" award for having the best looking display at the poster session. Check out the SiMT acknowledgement on their poster!
