We house the Fox Collection, which includes an extensive number of family history files, and several other collection

s of newspapers and local history. Our database is in progress and will soon be searchable to help you find more easily the information you need. Admission to the center is free, as are our services to individuals. We do charge for copies and for services to for profit organizations. We are a non-profit organization and gratefully accept donations.

Save the Date: On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., the Florence Pioneer Museum and Research Center will host the Tour De Coal Town Bike Ride through Williamsburg, Rockvale, and Coal Creek. The route includes rest stops with refreshments, restrooms, historical insights, and support vehicles for weary riders.

Participants can also enter a poker run along the way to compete for a cash prize at lunch. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children.

A Ride Through Local History - Bicycle Tour
Cañon City, CO — Hop on your bike and discover a different side of Cañon City’s history. As we ride through a local residential neighborhood, we’ll explore the people, places, and everyday stories that shaped the community.

This program is free and open to the public, welcoming both residents and visitors. Participants must be at least 12 years of age, provide their own bicycle and safety equipment, and be able to bike a/o stand for 1.5 hours.

Note: We will be riding along roadways.
