Most adults train like life only happens straight ahead.

But real life is side-to-side too.

You step.
You shift.
You catch yourself.
You brace.
You rotate.
You don’t live in a perfect squat rack position.

That’s why Wednesday at The FIT Facility is frontal plane focus day. ⚡️

We trained:

✅ Sandbag lateral slider snatches
✅ Side plank dips + reach-throughs
✅ KB goblet side squats
✅ Chin-ups
✅ Slider SHELCs
✅ Barbell military press

Because adults don’t just need to be strong.

They need to be strong in the positions life actually puts them in. 🧠

This is Functional Intelligent Training.

Train smarter.
Move better.
Build a body that holds up. 💪

One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Cord is that he truly gets it.

His expectations were always matched by his actions.

Last season, he helped lead his team to a State Championship.

Most people would have celebrated for a while, taken a victory lap, and enjoyed being the guy.

Cord took one week off.

Then he was right back in the gym getting extra work.

That’s the difference.

Success has a funny way of leaving clues. Most people see the State Championship. They see the accolades. They see the offers and opportunities.

They don’t see the work that starts after everyone else thinks you’ve made it.

Cord understands something a lot of athletes never learn:

The goal isn’t to arrive.

The goal is to keep becoming.

Every time we identified an area that needed improvement, he attacked it. No excuses. No entitlement. No waiting for someone else to do it for him.

Just alignment between what he said he wanted and what he was willing to do to get it.

As he heads to Birmingham, I couldn’t be happier for him.

I have zero doubt he’ll be a successful at his new school and become a Division I football player wherever he ultimately decides on.

The traits that create success are already there.

Proud of you, brother.

Keep stacking days. 💪

Most parents think speed training is just running faster.

It’s not.

In our Youth Performance class, we use games that force kids to move fast, think fast, and solve problems under pressure.

One of our favorites is a simple cone stacking relay.

The kids sprint 15 yards, stack cones, race back, and tag the next athlete.

But there is a catch.

Eventually, if an athlete takes the last cone from the far side, there is nothing left for the next teammate to stack.

So they have to think ahead.

They have to see the problem before it happens.

They have to decide, “Do I need to grab a cone from the starting line before I run?”

That is what real athletic development looks like.

Not just running around cones.

Not just doing random drills.

Not just getting tired.

We are training:

✅ Acceleration
✅ Deceleration
✅ Change of direction
✅ Coordination
✅ Spatial awareness
✅ Problem solving
✅ Team awareness
✅ Decision making under pressure

Because sport is not just about who can move.

It is about who can read, react, anticipate, and compete.

That is what we build at The FIT Facility.

Our Youth Performance program helps young athletes learn how to move better, think better, and build the foundation they need for long term athletic development.

Speed is not just something an athlete “has.”

Speed is something an athlete expresses.

And if you don’t know what is limiting that expression, you’re guessing.

I just completed Les Spellman’s NSPA Speed & Agility Certification, and it was a great reminder of something we believe heavily at The FIT Facility…

Some athletes need better acceleration.
Some need better max velocity mechanics.
Some need more elasticity.
Some need better stiffness.
Some need more strength.
Some need better posture and positions.
Some need to learn how to apply force in the right direction.

That matters.

The goal is to identify the weak link, build the missing quality, and keep raising the athlete’s strengths.

That is where athlete profiling becomes so valuable.

It gives us a clearer picture of what an athlete needs instead of relying on vague coaching phrases like:

“Get faster.”
“Work harder.”
“Be more explosive.”

Those are not solutions.
They are observations.

Good coaching asks better questions.

Where is the athlete leaking speed?
Is it acceleration?
Is it top-end mechanics?
Is it elastic ability?
Is it force production?
Is it coordination?
Is it movement efficiency?
Is it ALL of the above 🤦‍♂️

Once we know that, we can guide the program with more precision.

That is the standard at The FIT Facility.

Not random cone drills.
Not conditioning disguised as speed training.
Not guessing.

Applied knowledge.
Real results.

Better never stops. 💪

Most people only care how high an athlete jumps.
That’s incomplete.

Hunter is heading into his sophomore year of college and recently hit 4.0+ RSI on a 4-jump test. 🔥

Why does that matter?

RSI measures how quickly an athlete can absorb force → reverse force → reapply force.

In plain English:
Can you hit the ground and get off it fast?

That’s a big deal for:
⚡ Speed
⚡ Change of direction
⚡ Elastic power
⚡ Deceleration
⚡ Reacceleration
⚡ Explosiveness

High-level athletes aren’t just strong.
They’re efficient.
They’re reactive.
They can create force without wasting time on the ground.

That’s what we’re after at The FIT Facility.

Better never stops. 💪

Wednesday was a frontal plane focus day for our Total Fitness adults.

That means we trained side to side movement, lateral force production, trunk control, hip strength, and the ability to create power outside the straight line patterns most people live in.

Here’s what we hit:

💥 Sandbag side step cleans
Frontal plane power. Step sideways, reload, and clean the bag as you return to center.

🏋️ Kettlebell side squats
Strength through the hips, adductors, glutes, and legs in a pattern most adults do not train enough.

🔒 Lateral hold bent over KB rows
Not just “back work.” You have to row while resisting side bending and rotation through the trunk and pelvis.

🦵 KB lateral step RDLs
Own the hinge while stepping sideways, then push yourself back to the middle. That is strength, balance, and control.

💪 Bench press
Because adults still need real strength work too.

This is what Total Fitness is supposed to be.

Not random workouts.
Not just sweating for the sake of sweating.
Not turning every session into a contest.

It is coached.
It is structured.
It is athletic.
