our next featured alum is Preston Cox (BM Vocal Performance ‘25). since graduating, preston has established a reputation for teaching, performing, and music directing in the Shoals . . . most recently serving as MD for “The Addams Family” at Cherokee High School and “Mean Girls” at the Ritz Theatre (with stage direction by , ‘26) and performing the role of Paul in “A Chorus Line” (with .lt3, BM Vocal Performance, ‘25, singing the role of Judy) . . . we wish preston all the best as they start their Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy at Boston Conservatory at Berklee this fall!

our next featured alum is Benjamin South (BM Vocal Performance '22). since graduating from UNA, ben received his master's degree from Ohio University, and he looks forward to completing his doctoral degree from University of Colorado Boulder this fall. he recently participated in the prestigious NATS Intern Program, and he gave a poster presentation and performed an American premiere song cycle at the 2026 National NATS Conference in San Antonio, TX. last, but certainly not least, he joins the faculty at Florida Southern College this fall as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre!

our next featured alum is Josiah Rains (BS Education, Choral P-12, '23)! mr. rains just started his fourth year in music education; this fall, he joins the faculty at Onenonta High School teaching music and drama. you can also catch josiah on stage this weekend as Oz Fudge in "Come From Away" at the Shoals Theatre in downtown Florence (with Music Direction by alum William Miller, '25)!

our next featured alum is .haynes (BM Vocal Performance ‘23)! this spring, Chelsea graduated from Temple University and the Boyer College of Music and Dance with a Master’s Degree in Vocal Arts. while enrolled at Temple University, Chelsea participated in several opera productions including Don Giovanni and The Handmaid’s Tale, and she looks forward to appearing as a supernumerary in Opera Philadelphia’s production of Mitridate, re di Ponto.

fall semester starts in less than two weeks . . . as we look forward to welcoming new and returning UNA singers to campus, let’s highlight some of the amazing accomplishments of UNA Voice & Opera alumni! in July, (BM Vocal Performance ‘26) was invited to compete as a semi-finalist in the National Student Auditions in both musical theatre and commercial music categories in San Antonio, Texas. she advanced to the finals in commercial music winning second place overall! 👏👏👏 brava!!!
