As our families prepare for a new school year, we kindly ask that you review the Bus Information below to ensure that all bus riders are prepared for their first day on the bus.
ARRIVAL TIME:
Students should arrive at their bus stop 10–15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
ROUTES AND STOPS:
Bus routes are monitored closely and usually run on a consistent schedule. However, delays can occur due to unexpected issues.
New bus stops are only added if a student lives more than 0.3 miles from an existing stop.
FOR SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY:
Bus stops must be 0.2 miles apart. Nearby stops may be combined unless a safety concern requires otherwise.
Bus stops are established only at locations deemed safe for student pickup and drop-off. Students will not be required to cross four-lane roads or highways or be dropped off at locations that present a safety hazard.
PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under South Carolina law (SC Code §§ 59-67-415 and 59-67-245), parents and guardians are responsible for their child’s safety, behavior, and timely arrival at the designated bus stop before pickup, as well as their safe departure after the bus leaves.
PARENTS MUST:
REINFORCE safe bus behavior with their child.
REPORT: Student misconduct to the school principal. Transportation safety concerns to the Transportation Office.
South Carolina law PROHIBITS boarding a school bus without authorization, interfering with its operation, restricting its movement, or threatening or using obscene or profane language toward the driver or passengers. Review Board Policy JICDA Code of Conduct online at f1s.org for additional information.
TRANSPORTATION HOTLINE: 843-954-5100
The hotline is available from 7 AM to 6 PM on
07/29/26, 07/30/26, 07/31/26, 08/03/26, and 08/04/26
DOWNLOAD THE MY RIDE K-12 APP
This app allows you to view the scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, bus numbers, and the real-time location of the bus once your child’s route begins.
DAYCARE TRANSPORTATION
Afternoon transportation to approved daycares within a student’s attendance zone is available on a space-available basis. A notarized Daycare Transportation Form must be submitted to the Transportation Office and may take up to 10 days to process. Daycare transportation begins August 10, 2026, unless the student’s residence and daycare are on the same bus route.
WHAT CAN BE BROUGHT ON THE BUS:
Band instruments and other personal items must fit safely in a student’s lap, remain under the student’s control, and not block aisles, seats, or emergency exits. Transportation staff will determine whether an item can be safely transported based on its size, the student’s ability to control it, and the safety of all passengers. Items that create safety hazards or interfere with emergency evacuation are not permitted.
SEVERE WEATHER
During inclement weather, some roads may become impassable due to hazardous conditions. The District will make every effort to contact parents and guardians in affected areas. Buses cannot leave their regular routes. However, students who live along the route may qualify for additional stops.
