Wilson School mourns the loss of one of our own, Mr. Ralph Thompson.

For generations of Wilson students, Mr. Thompson was more than a principal. He was a leader, a mentor, and the standard by which many measured themselves. He believed in hard work, pride, respect, and doing things the right way. His impact can still be seen in the lives of the students, teachers, and families he influenced.

Many remember hearing his deep voice in the hallways, being told to “tuck that shirt in,” and knowing he expected their best. More importantly, they remember how much he cared about Wilson and the people who walked through its doors.

His legacy lives on in the countless Wilson Warriors who are better because of his leadership.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all who loved him.

We are proud to celebrate Lindsey Balentine of Wilson High School for being named the Area Girls Soccer Coach of the Year!⚽️

In just the program’s second year of playoff eligibility, Coach Balentine guided the Lady Warriors to their first postseason appearance while leading the team to an impressive eight-win improvement over last season.

Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to student-athletes have helped build a winning culture both on and off the field.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Balentine on this well-deserved honor and thanking her for the positive impact she continues to make in the lives of her players and our community.

Congratulations to JT Burns and Ella Kate Hewett for representing our school at the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar at Vanderbilt University on June 5–7! We are proud of these outstanding student leaders for taking part in this incredible opportunity to develop their leadership skills and connect with other young leaders from across the region.

⚾️ Welcome Home, Coach Mitch Hill! ⚾️

Wilson High School is proud to announce the hiring of Mitch Hill as our new Head Baseball Coach.

For Coach Hill, this is more than a new position. It’s returning home! As a Wilson alumnus, he wore the Warrior uniform from 1999-2002 before continuing his baseball career at the University of North Alabama. Now, after nearly two decades of collegiate coaching experience, he returns to lead the program that helped shape his own journey.

Coach Hill brings an impressive track record to Wilson, including 223 career victories as a collegiate head coach, 12 years of head coaching experience, and recognition as the SWAC Coach of the Year. Most recently, he helped lead Central High School to the Class 4A State Semifinals as an assistant coach.

Coach Hill and his wife, Erin, are already a familiar part of the Wilson community. Their three sons, Griffin, Bennett, and Jamie, attend Wilson School.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Hill back home to Wilson High School.
