Our Elevate 2026 Professional Development Conference is almost here! Together, we will be Strengthening Practices and Growing with Purpose as we kick off the new school year.

📚 Educators must register in advance for six sessions or a minimum of six hours of professional learning no later than July 22nd.

⏰ Early registration is highly encouraged, as space is limited for each session. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis!

The Office of Professional Development and Content Coordinators will not be able to confirm attendance or award professional learning credit for educators who are not pre-registered.

Today, our district office staff had a sweet treat delivered from a new business in town. Thank you, 7 Brew Coffee. We enjoyed the colorful and refreshing drinks in this summer heat!

🍎Thursday morning, Induction Orientation kicked off for our newest Florence 1 Schools teachers!

The day began with breakfast ☕🥐 and an opportunity to connect with fellow new teachers. After the Meet and Greet, the teachers heard from teams from the Multilingual Learners Department, Human Resources, Exceptional Education, and Information Technology (IT).

We are looking forward to an amazing year in Florence 1 Schools. Please help us welcome our new teachers!

Wilson High School's Athletic Director, Derrick McQueen, has been recognized by NIAAA - National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator.

To earn this distinctive certification, McQueen participated in a series of NIAAA courses and electives and submitted either a written or oral capstone project.

The NIAAA notes that McQueen has "demonstrated exemplary knowledge, contributions and ongoing professional development in the field of interscholastic athletic administration."

Today, the Florence 1 Schools District Office was excited to name its Staff Support Employee of the Year, someone who makes a difference every single day. This year’s SSOY is always willing to help, whether it's assisting a coworker, supporting employees who come into the district office, or stepping in when a deadline is approaching. She is dependable, hardworking, knowledgeable, and treats everyone with kindness and compassion.

Her coworkers describe her as someone they can always count on and someone who consistently goes above and beyond what is expected. She is known for her caring heart, her willingness to help others, and yes, her feisty spirit that keeps things moving and makes her one of a kind. One nomination summed it up perfectly by saying, "She is a sweetheart!"
