Exciting news from our team in Japan! Dallas Do has advanced to compete in the FINALS of the Jr World Championship competition for weapons going on in Japan. We are SO PROUD that his efforts are paying off. Go Dallas!!!

Our dojo family is greatly saddened at the passing of Sensei Steve's first teacher, Bill Kennon. Sensei tells us that he was one of the most amazing martial artists that he had ever met. He was tough on his students, but he showed them love. He practiced martial arts 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. He told us GOD rested on Sunday, so his students should too. Sensei Steve remembers seeing him leap out of a cat stance and kick a ceiling tile out of a 10-ft ceiling. He was a master of chi sao (sticking hands). Bill was untouchable, no one could hit him. One of Sensei Steve's most vivid memories was watching him drive his fingers through two slabs of concrete with a spear hand. He has yet, to this day, see anybody break cement with a spear hand. Sensei Steve trained with him till 1978., when a work accident broke his back and he was unable to teach. When Sensei Steve saw him in the early 2000s he had become a Minister. He was pastoring a church in Wi******er Kentucky. Sensei Steve last saw him two weeks ago.. all he could say was JESUS is so amazing and he's been so good to me. We know he's with the LORD now ✝️, and if there's martial arts in Heaven.. We are sure he's walking through Kata with the Angels! He is one of the reasons our chief instrcuctor became "Sensei Steve" 🥋✝️

The entire dojo family at The Master's Martial Arts Academy is saddened by the passing of Sensei Chuzo Kotaka. Sensei Steve Napier was his devoted student beginning in 1999 and wishes to extend condolences to the Kotaka family. We honor the many accomplishments and legacy of Sensei Kotaka. He once said "Karate is a lifelong progression of learning and betterment. It takes a lot of determination, perseverance, and most importantly, self discipline. These are important qualities of a champion, but they are also the qualities of every day karateka. No matter what your goals in Karate are, always remember to keep those qualities dear to your heart, and you will always go far."
