At approximately 12 noon today, school resource officer Lonnie Stone was notified that local police were looking for a person near the nursing home. It was reported the person may have had a weapon. Out of an abundance of caution, we chose to secure the school. This means bring everyone inside, post our SRO at the school’s entrance, notify our CSSO team and staff. We continued business as usual inside the buildings we just did not go outside without the presence of a CSSO. 15 minutes later, we received notification that the person was in custody and the secure was called off. Just to be clear, this person was never on campus or a danger to our staff or students. We chose to keep everyone inside and let local law enforcement do their job. In a matter of 15 minutes we were back to business as usual. As always, thank you for choosing Flippin.
