Taste of the Nations invites you to take your taste buds on a journey around the world—all in one unforgettable evening. Enjoy an inspired menu featuring the bold flavors and culinary traditions of

India, Vietnam, Mexico, and France.

Local chefs, alongside MCC Culinary Arts chefs and students, will showcase the flavors, techniques, and traditions that make each destination unique.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Kyle Makin

From Linden High School to reporting on his hometown, Kyle Makin found his path in storytelling!

After discovering his passion for broadcast news, Kyle chose Mott Community College to complete his general studies debt-free while balancing full-time work. Thanks to inspiring peers and dedicated faculty, Kyle built a solid academic foundation before transferring to complete his degree.

After reporting at WLNS 6 News in Lansing, Kyle returned home to Genesee County to focus on telling positive, impactful stories about his own community.

"Mott helped me become a better student before I ever set foot on a university campus. If you don't have a full scholarship, Mott is one of the best ways to save money and still get a great education."

Please join us on Monday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. for the 34th Annual Peace and Dignity Ceremony on the Court Street Lawn at Mott Community College.

Following the ceremony, a Q&A session and luncheon will be held immediately afterward in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center.

You're Invited!

Andrea Z. Folden Piano Practice Room Dedication.

Please join us as we celebrate the dedication of the Andrea Z.
Folden Piano Practice Room and honor Andrea Z. Folden’s lasting contribution to the Mott Community College community.

Andrea Zlatec Floden (1939–2026) devoted her life to music, as a pianist, teacher, accompanist, and mentor in the Flint community. She served as an Adjunct Professor of Music at Mott Community College for 37 years, taught generations of students at home and at the Flint Institute of Music, and accompanied countless young and professional musicians.

A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, she performed with the Flint Symphony Orchestra and other regional ensembles. Andrea was also a devoted leader of the St. Cecilia Society, serving as its president multiple times.

This piano room is dedicated in grateful recognition of her lasting musical legacy and the many lives she enriched.
