Couple nets state grant for ‘as Flint as it gets’ restaurant and taproom
The state of Michigan is buying into the redevelopment of a vacant property in Flint that’s being converted into a public house-style restaurant and bar themed after the 1936-37 Flint Sit-Down Strike.

In 1888, before they could even vote, the women of Flint formed the Garland St. Literary Club as a forum for learning, teaching, collaboration, and community building. For over 137 years, this club has modeled how civil discourse and creative connection help us thrive.
Join us on Thursday, Nov 6th, at 2:15-3:30, during the Cracks in the Pavement Symposium at UM-Flint, for a lively exploration of this club and how civic clubs like it might be the key to revitalizing and reconnecting our communities.
