Congratulations to another retiree, Mrs. Ronda LeBrassuer! Ronda is a Kearsley graduate with deep family roots in the district. She was hired in October 1989 and has served our schools in several roles, including lunch/playground monitor, switchboard operator, substitute secretary, and Weston Clerk since 1997. For nearly three decades, she has been a steady, trusted, and beloved presence in the Weston Elementary School office.

Ronda has served generations of Kearsley families with kindness and humor. Whether assisting families, helping staff, greeting students, or cheering on her grandkids at Kearsley events, she has represented the very best of our community.

Thank you Ronda for your incredible service to our district. You will be missed. 💙💛

We are just one week into summer vacation but building improvements have already begun in full-force! Visiting football bleacher installation prep has begun (goodbye to the berm!), along with new Armstrong Middle School Kearsley signage and Kindergarten/specials classroom renovations at Weston Elementary School. Thanks to our community for their continued support of these investments in our schools!

The June Board of Education meeting was held at the Eastside Senior Citizens Center, located on the site of Kearsley's former George Daly Junior High School. The Daly building was decommissioned in 1979 and later became the George Daly Community Center. Following renovations, it was established as the permanent home of the Eastside Senior Center.

Thank you to the staff and residents for hosting us. We appreciate your hospitality and the opportunity to meet in a facility that continues to serve the community in such a meaningful way.

Kearsley High School Student Council members attended the June Board of Education meeting to thank Board members for their continued support and provide an update on their recent trip to the Student Leadership State Conference in Grand Rapids.

The KHS Student Council was recognized with the Exceptional Service Award for its support of the nonprofit Rebecca's Reason. In addition, several Student Council members were nominated for individual leadership awards, highlighting the positive impact they are making both in the school and the community.

Congratulations to the students on these outstanding accomplishments and for representing Kearsley with pride. Special thanks to Student Council mentor Amanda Struck-Curtis for her leadership and dedication to supporting student growth and success.

Congratulations to our June Hornet Award winner - Victoria Boyd, Armstrong Middle School teacher!

"Victoria truly does it all. While her primary role is teaching, her impact extends far beyond the classroom walls. She is a dedicated member of our Leadership Team, an enthusiastic sponsor of Student Senate, a trusted chaperone for the 8th Grade Washington, D.C. trip, a coach for multiple sports, and the driving force behind many of the social events that help make AMS a positive and connected community.

What makes Victoria especially deserving of the Hornet Award is not simply the number of hats she wears—it is the passion, energy, and commitment she brings to every one of those roles. Whether she is teaching a lesson, cheering on student-athletes, organizing an event, leading student leaders, or supporting colleagues, she consistently gives her very best. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and her positive attitude helps create an environment where both students and staff thrive.

Students naturally gravitate toward Victoria because she has a remarkable ability to make each child feel seen, valued, and important. She builds genuine relationships, celebrates student successes, and inspires confidence in those around her. Her influence reaches students from all backgrounds and interests, making a lasting impact on the culture of our school.

Victoria represents what it means to be a Hornet—committed, caring, hardworking, and student-centered. Her dedication to Armstrong Middle School is evident in everything she does, and our school community is stronger because of her efforts. For her unwavering service, leadership, and positive influence, Victoria Boyd is a truly deserving recipient of the Hornet Award."
